My long-time dealer in LA is starting a 2-table cash game of his own, $5/$10 blinds, with buy-ins from $1000 to $10,000. He bought some chips from Amazon that came in with its material peeling, and not really usable. I wanted to help him out.

He needs about $150,000 in bank, but these chips will be abused and played with a lot.

Looking for recommendations for an inexpensive, but decent set that he could use. He definitely wants red $5s, green $25s and black hundos. His budget is no more than $700.

Any help / pointers in the right direction would be appreciated. Or perhaps someone has a set that fits the bill.

Where do I find them? Link?

Cost is currently about ~$0.31/ea full custom landed US before reship to you if you are in a small group buy of 10k chips.

I am running a smallish group buy and we could use one more person. Ordering in about 2 weeks. We could fit you/your guy.

I agree with everyone here at 5/10 you want security so get some customs, CPC would be to expensive so go the cereamic route the china ceramics if he can wait a month or so, br pro if he can't.

I can do a Bud Jones set with a $1 to $500 conversion, inexpensive and lots of stock, just need to work out inlay replacement costs. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss the possibilities.

I always figured that the budget for chips should be more than a single minimum buy-in...

... but maybe that’s because my friends play for dimes?

Well, if you go custom, I'd like to piggy back on your order with a few 1K and 5K chips.
Just for collecting purposes..... :D

I NEVER get to LA. Promise.

How about CPC solid A molds?

$0.99 each so it will be over budget, but not terrible. Good security, good looking durable, custom, and wait shouldn't be terrible with the A mold.

While the China group buy chips are great, bear in mind that it'll be 2-3 months, maybe more before you see them. Shipping alone seems to take at least a month.

If he can't wait that long, with a budget of $700, I'd get semi custom ceramics from BRPro which will net around 1100 chips. For example:
https://brpropoker.com/collections/...ips/products/semi-custom-valentino-poker-chip
https://brpropoker.com/collections/...s/products/semi-custom-high-stakes-poker-chip
That is what I did for 2 tables of micro stakes

You won't regret it and it will turn 2-3 months into 2-3 weeks.

only A molds for .99 would be blank solids if you are getting them from CPC. that wouldn't be real secure.

+1 semi-custom ceramics from BR / Gene

Good value, durable, secure.
Plus Gene & co. are great to work with so you know there won’t be issues.

On the one hand, this is an expensive game and the players should enjoy play using a nice set of chips and cards. On the other hand, it’s gonna take a lot of use/abuse and he is not buying a showcase or set for collection. It’s part of a regular, working game. Given that, some security concerns, and the budget, I think semi-custom ceramics would be the best way to go.

I have a set of China Clay Pharoahs..
200x .25c
300x $1’s
300x $5’s
100x $25’s
100x $100’s

I think my dealer will like the chips, and the price seems great.
How much? If they are the ones from his pic above those colors are really nice and bright.

My very first set was Casino Chipco. Mardi Gras Queen Florida. What started the downward spiral into
sets back in the days of ChipTalk.
If I could find that set Id buy it back today for the memories :p

$1.29, sorry read the wrong table
I do not believe the a molds at that price will have a recess to take a label so they would be non-denom. You would need an inlay to have the recess to apply a label.
