Death of the $25 chip at WSOP? (1 Viewer)

Must gambool faster, faster, faster..... :meh:

For the venue/casino/card room it is a win/win. Speeds up play/ends tournaments faster, less training for sub-par dealers who can't keep up with collecting antes, don't have to worry about players who can't be bothered with learning game mechanics (how to post & ante). In the tech world we call it programming for stupid. From the venue/casino/card room's perspective it's a winner.

But even if player are adapting and like/love it, trust me it wasn't created to benefit the players. It was initially dreamed up as a benefit to the venue/casino/card room.

I really think it's a moot point at this stage, it's here to stay at the casinos/card rooms. And if a home game I play in uses it I will adapt (even though I'm over 65)

You are kind of mixing apples and oranges here. If I’m not mistaken, it was introduced in a high-stakes cash game at players’ request, but the introduction of this in tournaments is a completely different animal with problems discussed in other threads that don’t need to be discussed again. Bottom line, venues have convinced players that it’s a necessary fix when it doesn’t even address the real cause of the problem while adding other problems. How well do you think this is going to go over the first time a player is almost felted, has just enough to ante the next hand, wins the hand after there were five players in the hand, and only wins back his ante?

I am not.

A player who had participated in a cash game using them recommended the format to ARIA Poker Tournament Director Paul Campbell, and he said he was willing to give it a trial run.

Wrong again. The WSOP has adopted the blinds first approach which solves that problem.

The delusion ITT is hilarious. BBA is now the standard because players love it, not because of some nefarious corporate conspiracy. I play lots of tournaments, over a hundred a year, in card rooms, home games and my local Moose lodge. The only location where I’ve heard a comment or two that may be construed as negative is at the Moose where the average age is around 65. The LAPC, the WSOP circuit, and dailies at Commerce, The Bike and Hollywood Park - all locations I’ve heard nothing but positive or neutral feedback, mostly positive. It simplifies and speeds up the game, that’s it. It’s not complicated or that big a deal.

My experience as well.

I'm glad somebody said it.....! I play in a lot of live casino tournaments and I hear NOTHING but love for the BBA from EVERYONE, dealers, players, players spouses, the ShuffleTech in the table, the chips even cry out in joy out a little when the BBA is talked about. Ok maybe a few of those are wrong.....but still...

Everyone can say whatever they want, but the BBA is not going anywhere anytime soon......the only thing that could take the BBA away in my view is digital dealt tables with no chips/cards/dealers, THEN and only THEN will "regular" antes come back, and we all know that would be horrible (you know, no chips and all).....

Anyone who hates the BBA or thinks it's horrible have fun screaming into the wind...........

But digital tables will be good for at least 5-7 more hands in an hour. Especially when we don't have to mess with those stupid chips or cards. :sneaky:;)

A good player should normally know how to adapt to the structure.

What's the différence to start between à starting stack of T5K with blind T25-T50 and starting stack of T10k with blind T100-T100 !?! Not to much imo.

Many players ask to play wsop more deep stack and no more to pay $1k buy in with 5000 starting stack....and if you want to play deep you have to remove T25 chips.
