I've been pretty frustrated with my card pitching. I have a decent shuffle, but the actual pitch is horrible.

Came across this instructional video. I'll see if it helps me improve.

Watch others who do it well and try do as they do. And yes, practice. Home games are a great place to do it.

I will say, i have absolutely NO intention of becoming a dealer. I hate dealing. Having a good shuffle and a decent pitch makes everything go a little smoother and faster.!

I get frustrated dealing at a poker table. Having spent years pitching while standing up really fucked up being able to deal cards while sitting down. The muscle memory is hard to undo, particularly when I only play a few times a year. I could blow damn near anyone off of a blackjack layout but not much of it translates... its everything from spacing and angles all the way down to how you hold the deck. Also in circus games where a large portion of the deck is initially dealt I find myself having to “reload” the stub in my hand before the last orbit of dealt cards to avoid dropping the few cards that are leftover.

Thanks to that channel, I completely changed how I shuffle and pitch. I really like those videos.

I am a Poker dealer at the local Casino. Back then when I took the poker dealing class that lasted 7 weeks, 90% of the whole time was on pitching. In time, everything becomes normal and your speed picks up.

I like that guy and those videos helped. As other said, practice makes perfect. It helps if you have a swivel chair. For me I brace my back and only Swivel in the chair. Keeping your elbows in tight helps a lot.

I think a lot of it has to do with being confident enough to put a hard enough spin on the cards. There is always the fear of flipping a card but a harder pitch is safer than a lighter one in my experience.
