Sitting Out
Just got these in the mail yesterday! Here are my thoughts:
1. Size: I already own 40mm Monte Carlos from Amazon, and these are 39mm's. So I was not expecting them to feel smaller, but I can definitely notice the ~1mm difference. The internet seems to say that 39mm is the standard size for casino chips and chips in general, while 40mm's is the standard low-end chip size. Is that correct? Because I don't know but I just can't seem to get over how small they feel. The height is the same as my old ones though, and I should also mention that they're a bit lighter but I don't mind that. I can appreciate any weight of chip #chipbodyppositivity
2. Texture: The side texture was what I was expecting them to feel like, but I was surprised to discover that the front and back of the chips are not completely smooth feeling like the sides are. I don't know if it's due to the process of putting on the artwork or if it's done intentionally to not make the chips too slippery. Either way I don't mind, this just surprised me when I first felt them.
3. Art: The design of these chips is fantastic, no complaints there. I especially like how the sides all have their own patterns, so I think a stack of one colour is gonna look really cool.
4. Edges: The edges seem to be more round than square, so standing them up on their sides isn't very easy, but they feel reaaallly nice when I riffle them. My old chips had some sharp edges, so riffling them was sometimes a bit painful, but none of that with these chips. The riffling feels great. I should also note that there are no spinners, and in a stack they aren't too slippery (probably because of that texture I mentioned before).
The dealer button is also fantastic, I got their biggest size (60mm) and it has a very nice weight and thickness to it
If you made it this far, let me know what you guys think about the 40mm vs 39mm sizes, also if I decide to buy a whole set of these, I want to get semi-customs but I'm still unsure about which colour each denomination will be. My denoms would probably be 5c, 25c, 1$, 5$, 10$, (cash), and 25, 100, 500, 1000, 5000 (tournament). And if there's any thing else I should know please let me know because I'm pretty new to the world of poker chips!
