Hello,

I rcvd some cut cards recently and I don't know, there is something I dont really like about them. See picture.

Stupid question, what large online retailer (I'll buy other things to make shipping worthwhile) should I order cut cards from?

Thanks in advance,

-Z

ill probably write this off as a freak occurrence and and bid away with confidence. thanks.

I too have some cut cards that are somewhat transparent. They may work fine for blackjack, but for poker, not so much.

Sorry, but I have no idea where I purchased the cut cards that are completely opaque. Wish I could help.

I also have some cut cards that are like this one, the yellow and white are the worst, my blue and red seem to be fine. I did buy some custom cut cards from a well known person from another site, but he has not been around for a while and we are not sure if or when he might.

I bought mine from 2 places, e-bay, and some from Poker N Stuff.

Well, those work fine as cut cards, but not so well as cover cards.

(Kidding. Almost everyone calls them cut cards. I'm a nerd.)

I bought 10-packs of red cover cards on Amazon and they're good, but it has been years and I couldn't tell you which manufacturer.

It may help if they say "poker" instead of "blackjack," because if they're actually to be used for cutting (blackjack) instead of covering (poker), you actually want them to be thin.

Black Copag cut cards are what I'd recommend. A bit expensive but worth it IMO. eBay has them.

I'll further quantify this as the black Copag cut cards with the gold lettering (not the white lettering and red spade).

I've tried a variety of cut cards, and most are either rubbery vinyl or hard plastic. Neither feel very nice. The black Copags (again with the gold lettering) are made of PVC and are by far my favorite cut cards. They're flexible, feel nice, and are easily distinguishable from the playing cards by touch and when riffling.

As far as I know Copag doesn't make these anymore, so if you find one, don't wait. Get it now.

thanks, Mental Nomad, but I placed an order at caragails for some copags earlier so i dont want to bother you.

Yeah those are the ones I meant, didn't even know Copag makes a different black these days... Good thing I have enough of the ones with gold text to last a lifetime

Nobody calls them that. But some people say po-tot-o.

HQ has some very cool enameled metal cut cards. Totally opaque. Solid in the hand. They are really cool.

Confirmed at S@P. Also the debate of using one cut card vs. two rages on.

Solution? Use one "cut card" and one "cover card."

Two cut/cover cards ftw, it speeds up the game and has no drawbacks. Also never have to dig around in the deck stub due to thoughtlessness of self-dealers (which is alarmingly common).

Call 'em whatever you like, just use two.

I finally figured out that I think you guys mean one cover card per deck / two cover cards at the table. It never occurred to me to only have one at the table - I always have one cover in play per deck in play. (In a casino, since only one deck is in play at a time, they only need one cover at the table.)

In my game, we also use the cover cards to mark deck status:

On the deck not in play, cover card at the bottom (or next to the deck) means it needs to be shuffled.
Cover on top of the deck means it's ready to cut and deal.
(We never cut ahead of time - if they're cut prematurely, the cover goes back on top so that the deck is still marked as shuffled. Re-cut and deal later.)

If you guys are talking about two cards for one deck, like in blackjack, then I'm surprised. I've never seen it done that way at a poker table. (But then I'd feel better about people calling them cut cards. :) )
