Custom Set for High Stakes Cash Game (1 Viewer)

A-mold could probably get a faster order in unless things have changed the A-mold was always mounted and ready to go.

Yeah I wonder if you had an inlay ready to go and called up David and asked for the quickest turnaround on any mold possible and potentially willing to pay a premium (not that he offers that), just how quickly he turn around a set.

You should have a “guest set” each week and rotate sets through from different people. Since the sets change frequently it might be it harder to sneak chips in. It also would give you another conversation topic

With a bankroll of > $2million, and wanted Clay plus short waiting time

Best way is Buy Blanks or Starburst or Hotstamped Chip, Milled them and Hotstamped / Label them.

Based off of:
1) Turn around time (6ish weeks)

2) dexterity of the chips for higher than average home game use (my experience, maybe not enough... is that Ceramics fade over time and with heavy use, maybe just a result of heavy casino use, this sounds like a regular high end game, they want chips that will hold up, and stil look appealing)

3) still resembaling a traditional chip for the players (still having an inlay and not a flat surface ceramic)

4) offering both 39mm/43mm, can go 39mm up to $500 and the n step it up for high denoms (obviously you can also do this with Br Pro)

I would say the front runner here would be SunFly! Really nice chips for the price. I think the 43mms Hybrid Ceramics are about $1.20 now, maybe less with that size order.

@MegaTon44 has been in the chipping community a Long time and has changed most of his collection over to Sunflys. Maybe he could shine a bit more light on them?

We own a tourney set of the Midnight Casinos, they really are nice chips!

for the amount of chips hes wanting unit price is 79c. for an etxra 10c they can do a security label. There is also the option for a uv ink marking on the chips if additional secuirty is required.

Because I incessantly talk about chips
WE LOVE YOU, KRISH

Ceramics feel great, but they feel very different from clays. Casinos use them, though, so depending on the host's and players' expectations they might still seem like "casino" chips. If you go with ceramics then pretty much any of the ceramic vendors will be suitable. ABC has Chipco blanks, which will feel the most like casino ceramics, since most casino ceramics are on Chipcos (or B&G, which feel similar). Security will be high with ceramics; someone could duplicate them with significant effort but without access to the original artwork the duplicates would probably stand out under scrutiny. Getting them on Chipco blanks would make it even harder to introduce ringers, since they stand out by feel and similar blanks are not readily available.

China clays kind of feel like clays if you're not a connoisseur (like all of us here are), and they kind of look like clays if you're not paying close attention. Someone used to mass-market chips would definitely consider these a big upgrade. Apache can sell you blanks with custom decals; security will be much better than with Amazon chips but someone enterprising could still fabricate convincing labels and introduce ringers after buying some blanks themselves.

Hybrid ceramics from Sun-Fly are probably your best bet, IMHO. They don't quite feel like clays, but they feel really good, and the hybrid nature of them makes them both look and feel more like clays than other ceramics do. I suspect both the host and the players would be very impressed with them, assuming they care about the chips at all. They'd also be nearly impossible to duplicate. Someone would have to work with an Alibaba vendor, but we've already seen some Alibaba knock-offs of Sun-Fly chips and while they look similar to the originals there were obvious differences that would be noticeable if the host was paying attention.

For any customs (and you'll need to go with customs if you're concerned about security), make sure the host works with a good designer, which will have to be figured into the cost. After all, if you're a regular there, you'll have to be staring at these chips all night long... make sure they look good. :)

A set like that is worth a little extra wait. Call CPC and see what they can do time-wise, then design something awesome!
^^^^
Write David and see what he says. You might be able to squeeze an H mold, A mold, or whatever is going in the other set.

Otherwise, Abbiati, Matsui, or SunFly.

It just seems like ceramics for a home game like this would be a huge let down. Then again, I suspect the vast majority of poker players, regardless of stakes, couldnt care less about the chips.

One of the games I attend in Los Angeles that happens to use highly insecure chips bought off Amazon for a $25/$50 no-limit game has finally decided to upgrade. Because I incessantly talk about chips, the owner of the game has asked for my help in getting some chips made.

He does not have the patience to wait for a CPC set, and the only other customs I’ve seen are the card molds from China. I think the timing on those is pretty long as well.

Is there a consolidated list by feature / ranking of the other types of custom chips available? What feels the most high-end / casino-like? I’ve heard about the BR Poker Pro offering… is there anything else?

The breakdown needed:

300 x $5 (red base)
1000 x $25 (green)
2000 x $100 (black)
1000 x $1000 (orange)
200 x $5000 (Grey)

Thanks for your help / suggestions!
I'd go with either:
-- custom 39mm ceramics from BRPro (chipco blanks)
-- custom 43mm hybrids from Sun-Fly (25mm recess)
-- stock CPC clays, either direct or from Key West

Personal preference if including game security would be the hybrids, or stock CPCs if not a major concern.
