I am looking to purchase around 1500 custom chips for my home game. I already have the design. I have samples from chiplab for the composite clay (they call them clay and posted pics below) samples coming from BRPRO for the ceramics and looking for a place for high quality clay (something around $1-$1.25 per chip). CPC looks great but over $2 per chip. Any ideas for the higher end clay?

CPC is the only option for fully custom clay.

otherwise you can buy already exsting chips like casino paulsons that you like, mill them, and relabel.

PS the chips from chiplab are not clay chips in the way we call casino grade chips clay chips. they are injection molded not compression molded like CPC and Paulson.

The chiplab ones i have in the picture actually look really Nice but don’t have that clay feel and are a little heavier. I agree CPC look great! Just hard to justify $3000 at this point. Anyone familiar with Apache?

Ceramics sound like a great option for your specifications, but there really isn’t any option for custom clays besides CPC, and especially none under $1.25/chip. Apache is great, but they don’t have any custom options.

for fully custom chips you will need to either get ceramics or CPC.

You can get china clay chips like the milanos, they are injected molded but are not abs plastic like dice chips ad don;t have metal slugs. You can't get custom spots like you can CPC but you can get blanks and apply your own labels.

I haven’t handled that specific chip from ChipLab, but I have had a small sample of their diamond mold chips. They look and feel pretty nice for what they are—inexpensive slugged molded plastic chips. Customs ceramics from @BR Pro Poker or @SUN-FLY Poker Chips (or hybrids) are a much nicer chip for not much more money.

Also, if you’re new to the chipping game, and have never owned a Paulson chip, there is one spot left in my giveaway.

Why do you need 1500 chips?
This is a good question. You can run a 10-player tournament with as few as 300 chips, and a cash game with 500-600. You may be able to buy fewer chips, and go ahead and get your custom CPC's if you like.

I’ve got 1000 chips now. It’s a $1/$3 cash game We normally have a one table and occasionally get a second table. We use 200 white chips which get sucked up by dealer/game girl tips and 500 red which we always run out of. 200 green which we sometimes run out of and 100 black which we are good on. I was thinking do 200 white. 800 red. 300 green and a mixture of black with a few purple/yellows (occasionally use for color up). Probably good with 1200-1300. Was thinking 1500 to be safe and at some point might play a bigger game

below is the sample picture from BRPRO which will be delivered next week. Two options (with and without boarder)

Full custom ceramics are available from an Alibaba manufacturer for ~30¢ per chip.

Check the group buy section. There's a recent (closed) group buy going on and members are starting to receive their chips. Amazing value - nothing can come close to the value prop.

^ Exactly. You can get a 1000 chip set that will cover both a single table cash game (600 chips) and a single table tournament (400 chips).

Determine your actual needs, apply your total budget, and get the right number of the best chips you can afford.

And remember, high-quality chips will last a lifetime, so your total cost spread over many years makes it quite small on a per-use basis.

It looks like you can customize the center of the Apache chips?
Around $1 a chip

Those are just plastics, they’re advertised as clays, but they are injection-molded plastic with additives to make them feel like clay (which they don’t). $1 a chip is also more than you would have to pay if you buy the labels yourself and label them.

Get samples! Try some real compression molded clays among other things, and then see what you prefer.

Of the sets in the sample picture from BRPro of the ceramics, I like the upper set better as the border is less busy. I assume the edge stripes on the faces of the chips in the lower set wrap around to the rolling edge. I'm wondering if the chips in the upper set have solid rolling edges or if there are any markings in the rolling edges to facilitate counting stacks from across the table.

I like the lower ones because of the color contrast and makes it look more like a traditional chip. They will do whatever you want on the edges for the same price but if you want the front of the chip to match up with the edges then they charge an extra 20 cents per chip

If I have custom ceramics made, I will have markings or patterns on the rolling edges that will look fine regardless of their orientation in relation to the faces.

If you are running a home game which often times has over $7000 in play then spend the extra money to get custom chips because they are needed. Spend the extra on CPC and enjoy.

I received the Ceramic samples from BRPRO today and think they turned out great. Probably go with the stripped edges because they look more like poker chips. I def like these a lot better then the chiplab “clayish” chips and it looks like the cpc clays will be 2-3 times more expensive so i might not even get samples of them

I will post pictures below of the two styles of BRPRO chips
