Hi All
so my first shipment is being processed at Melbourne's customs, and should have them in-hand next week.
if anyone is keen for some decks, sing out.
I have a few members in mind who are very active when it comes to playing cards, so i will pass on some free decks if they want to cover shipping costs.
As this was my first custom card order, I will highlight some issues from this experience. Some of this will be super obvious, however, doesn't hurt to point out.
1. agent was very responsive when they knew they were getting $xxxx of business
2. process was easy with approving proofs
3. prompt replies.
4. I have a mate who imports from china, so I got my order sent to his container. My cost to get 22 boxes into Melbourne was $369AU.
5. I received 6 sample decks. Initial thoughts
a. tuck box was perfect. as per my design.
b. the feel was what we expected. matte on the back, smooth gloss on the front
c. thickness of .35mm was on point.
d. it was evident that based on their proof sheet, and how the decks were cut, that the last 2-3 rows of cards were slightly off centre.(12 - 15 cards per deck affected)
e. Their response was 'a 1mm tolerance is acceptable when printing'. i have never seen a deck of cards with off centre printing.
f. their reply was 'this is common knowledge in the printing industry'
g. lots of back and forth with no real resolution.
Cards have been used at our local game.
no one has noticed the 'off-centre'. cards have been well received so we hope to sell off 2000 decks locally. Home games are massive now with COVID and Crown casino going from 70 poker tables down to 14.
so if anyone still wants some with the abovementioned issues, sing out. I will do my best to get out as many decks as i can.
