Critique my set - open discussion and feedback (1 Viewer)

5% of your inlays should have dicks on them. Just enough to randomly fuck with people.

Time for a small add on.

David can send you a box of dicks.

What about growth??

Are we talking about the same thing? o_O This is a pr0n thread, not a porn thread.

RE: MOTSWARI LODGE
Personal preference - I think I would have gone smaller in label inlay size - show off a little more clay. Therefore you only get a 9/10...garbage...

Would really need to see a sample to actually critique the set.

ps. I love the concept of this critique thread ;)

Agreed. It's informative. I am happy with my custom set and happy to have mine follow any critique after Perth's set. I can already imagine what people would say, I already know I'd change the edge spots on my $5 lol

I almost always have a preference for small inlays, and picking the inlay size was one of my toughest decisions. In the end I felt I had a lot going on with the animals and didn't want to lose detail by going too small.

Sound reasoning, but wrong.

But there’s always next time.

I'm super happy with mine too, but I think it's fun to have some open discussions about these things. I agree with some of the suggestions and don't agree with others, but then we all think differently so that makes sense.

Custom sets are a nightmare to design and you never quite know how they will turn out until you complete them.

Prior to this thread I think the zebra/elephant denom thing was the only thing that had been playing on my mind. Post-thread it's kinda worse now  :ROFLMAO:. After all the comments and critiques I think the only main thing I would have changed if I could do it over would be to switch the $20 and $100. Though I am very happy with the elephant $100 as a standalone chip and I don't regret making it at all.

I would also change the green spot to a lighter one on the frac, as per the suggestion by @Toby.

And I'd make the zebra 8d18 with charcoal and black.

I still don't think I'd switch to 7/8 inlays.

I am very strongly considering a new $20 (ad per above) as a commemorative chip for our baby that's due in January. I'm considering a rhino or hippo maybe, depending on the baby's gender. If its a boy I need to fit a dangling dick on the image lol.

I would then maybe murder a barrel of the zebras and turn them into hundos.

Thanks everyone for all for the thoughts. @mashoo looks like you want to step up to the plate and get roasted next  :ROFLMAO:. Love you set btw.

I think you could've made a 7/8" inlay work without much compromising as I'm also not a fan of larger inlays. But, I also don't like inlays that don't occupy all of the space within the inner ring... seems unfinished to me. I do prefer the inlay size you chose based on the mould selected. I can't say anything negative about your inlay though... it's the feckin' nuts! I agree with others about swapping the white and grey chips as well as the spot selection seeming a little repetitive from the $5 upwards. Minor nitpicks though... still one of my all time favourite sets.

Right off the bat, I imagine most wouldn't like such a simple inlay and if I could do it over, I'd change the edge spots on my 5 since it's very similar to my 20.

Roast away lol

I think your inlay is great and i love the whole set. But I'll give it some nitpicky thoughts anyway lol

You obviously couldn't do it at the time, but the large crown mold would have been awesome on this set and the $1 would have been cool with tri-moon spots.

Personally I think I may have gone for a yellow base on the $5 (though butterscotch looks awesome) and maybe a mandarin red spot instead of pink.

RE: SUITED KINGDOM
Never having designed a CPC set, my opinion doesn't matter. But in the spirit of this thread:
  • The spot pattern between the $5 and $20 doesn't truly progress like the 25c->1->5.
  • The pink on the $5 blends in and isn't as dynamic, to be fair - it looked like it would pop a little more on the CPC mock up.
  • If the Ewing mold wasn't for casino use only, that could have been a nice choice. I also think the diamond square mold could have looked really good for this set that focuses on shapes.
I really like the spot colorations for the 25c and the $20. And the ordering and the color matching of the suits to edge spots looks really good. Butterscotch as a $5 is a great choice.

I've thought about the large crown mold if I ever make a secondary cash set! I don't really have funds to do it anytime soon but when I do, it'd definitely go on the large crown. If only I waited an extra couple years lol. I also would've absolutely used the tri Moon spots if it was available too lol

I don't like CPCs yellow enough for it to be a base colour, I don't think it's bright enough and when I had my sample colour set, it was really dull even after I oiled it so I went with butterscotch.

100% agree on the progression from the 5 to the 20. That's my biggest regret about the set and I've thought about doing a secondary 5 to fix that but no concrete plans yet.

At first, I was a little chapped about the pink as well but after oiling and letting it rest, it pops more in person than in pictures.

As for the mold, I looked into diamond square a lot but there was a couple threads where there were height differences/thicknesses issues with the mold because of its age so I went another route. If I had a do over, definitely would do the large crown mold

This set is perfect.

@Perthmike 's self-flagellation has reached Shia Muslim levels.
Even according to the older English Penal Code, public flogging should stop once the culprit's back is covered in blood. :D

On a more serious note, with this kind of detail, I 'd go with the absolute maximum possible inlay size, even if that required an all-43mm chip set.

I'd say the mold is unexciting. I don't think I would ever use A-mold for my own customs unless the theme was going to be around a poker room that starts with an "A". I'd probably do this on small crown, diamond square, or elephant and crown to go along with the theme.

Mold Elephant and Crown would have been perfect for this set / theme.

I do like the mold, but I would've gone with the large crown if it was available to me at the time.

Can’t help I never received my sample set. :ROFLMAO:

Jokes right? I'm pretty damn positive I did send you a sample set lol

This set is perfect.

Appreciate it.

This is what I would've done I think if I had the large crown and tri moon spots available. Also a redo on my 5 chip

The hundo should be oversized, and drop that pink.
$1 chip would be better with dayglo colors, and perhaps a green spot, but no real complaints.

Since the hundo would likely see limited game-play, I think this may be a HoF worthy set. Since it brings up the concept of the HoF, it sucks.

The zebra has a ton of bright white and not enough black I like the chip on its own, but if the effect is a zebra then I think more balance between the two colors would have been nice.

Those chips look GREAT in stacks and in play!

Edit: Whoops, I forgot what thread this was. Shit, they look like total Shit!
Also @mashoo what do you use to take such shitty pics at the table like that? All my in game pics look fantastic compared to these. I wish my action shots would look this shitty. :ROFLMAO:

Hahaha, I have friends who are into photography so I said take some pics of my shitty chips
