I am thinking of having a Custom Set made by CPC. I have a sample set of the colors and I am not sure I am sold on any of the Yellows. Here is a pic of all of the Yellows in my sample set and also a Pic of some Yellows in a couple older Palmas Club chips. I am guessing, but don't know for sure and that is why I am asking, that these were made before the current owners of CPC were involved and maybe some of the colors have changed??

Look at the Yellow insert on the $5 chip. Closest current color is Canary, but is not exact and The Yellow on the $1 is just not even close to any of the samples I have. If the yellow on the Palmas $1 was available I would think it would be a popular yellow as it is both different from any of the others and is quite nice.

Does anyone know what the Yellow on the $1 Palmas is?

Ahhh, the age old debate... CPC "yellows".

Canary is the closest to what people would typically think of as "yellow", but Arc yellow is sexier even if it is more of an orange.

My tip is to view the color sample chips in the environment where you play poker and go with your favorite there. Also, colors will appear to vary based on the spots and or base colors that they are paired with.

CPC yellows need to correlate to the theme/feel of the set as well as the other chip colors in the set. For instance, my Bicycle Shack $5s are Canary base and I adore them, but they feel a little vintage and more muted color wise which is what I was going for. If you want a brighter toned set go for Dayglo yellow base. Never ever use Saturn as a base.

This is a pretty accurate assessment IMO. The lighting and combination of edge spots affect the way your eyes perceive CPC's dayglo yellow. CPC's DG Yellow mimics the fluorescent yellow used on emergency vests to me, which tends to look more like neon green. But can change dramatically by just adding a label on the chips. And if you pair it with certain edge spots it can come out looking closer to a paulson daisy color. At least to me, it does, but maybe my eyes are just getting old lol.

Agreed. Adding a color like DG pink to DG yellow makes a world of difference. I’d recommend keeping green spot colors off DG yellow if you want to keep it from looking too green

Dayglo colors have changed since CPC took over. Something about the USA not allowing one of the materials used in the old dayglo colors to be imported anymore.

Some colors have evolved over time. I wouldn't be surprised if that yellow is one of the existing yellows. Here's a pic of Lavender from the 1950's next to Lavender from a couple years ago.

Wonder how close that 50's is to the current day cpc 'retro lavender '? And if so, and the op yellow is in fact cpc, can we please get a 'retro yellow'?

That Palmas is very confusing. I've only ever seen that ASM/CPC yellows have got much better over time.

What's the deal

Well, closer? Which gives me the slightest glimmer of hope for the retro yellow request...
My understanding is that introducing a new color is quite a painstaking and costly process. I think Dayglo Saturn is the result of an attempt to introduce a new "good" yellow. A bit of a stumble imho. I recall hearing that Spragg said it is unlikely that CPC would endeavor on the process again.

View attachment 785161I'm surprised that Arc Yellow isn't more popular. It's a nice color even though it's got an orange hue. Will def be my T1k chip if I ever do a tourney ser.

Expect a lot of sets in the next year with ArC Yellow base. I have one in my cash and one in my tourney and it was really hard to find examples. But other than mine I know of quote a few examples in the works.

If you need true yellows, blues, greens and reds we have you covered! My apprentice and I are in the process of starting our own poker chip production.

The turnaround will be fast as well. Mere days or weeks as opposed to months! Keep in mind, however, that QC is nearly non-existent. Also, no guarantees that you will even get them in the shape of chips.

Cost of the chips should be low, considering your labor costs are nonexistent! :ROFLMAO:

It’s 2021 nearing 22’ there’s labs that can carbondate and tell you the exact composition of materials in a piece of diert! Surly you could send the palmas yellow off or have a computer project the colors and see what materials would be needed to create it without guessing or trial in error right ?

Lots of big $ in this group maybe they could do it for cpc?

Or they could just buy a casino in Bahamas , Rico, there out there and cheap with gaming licenses and get paulsons into the group that way I mean probably could make your investment up In real quick!

I have seen posts before Peacock Blue as added in 2015 that people thought there was no way they would add a bright blue and joked about the possibility of it being named peacock blue.
