New to customs but excited to try. Seeking advice.
I don't see the Majestic blanks mentioned here much...is there a good alternative to murder and label?

Also, what's the biggest value in having someone like APC or CPC do it vs labels? I'm sure there's a quality difference but are we talking about "None of your friends will notice a difference but YOU will" level differences or are we talking "Did you get these at Walmart vs What casino are these from!?"

I'm excited and will do some samples of each beforehand, just trying to set my quality and uhm, financial expectations :p

TIA.

....with CPC, you won't have labels or stickers on the chips, but actual compressed inlays, as the real casino quality clay chips they are.
Who knows what your friends will think, however ..
Some people think the heavy, slippery plastic coated iron slug chips feel great, ... :)

My family's level of consideration is "the original Splendor tokens feel great!" ... I think they're like 17g lol.

if you like ceramic chips they are the best “value” custom chips, hands down. For $1/chip (or even much less possibly) you can get a fully custom chip. Labeled China Clays like Majestic’s are very close in price without the full custom option.

CPC offers the only true full custom clay option and if it is in your budget is a great option. Just know that you will likely be waiting 6 months to a year potentially for your set depending on your mold choice. Custom ceramics from @BR Pro Poker is about 2 weeks.

There are many factors to consider when trying to decide on a custom set.

and for the record I have done just about all of them. Custom CPC (3 sets), relabeled someone else’s CPC set I bought, I milled and custom labeled Paulsons, and custom ceramics.

As mentioned, CPC is best, but $2-$3+ per chip and possibly a long wait.
Of the other 2 choices, I would go custom ceramics over a labeled China clay in a heartbeat.

Get samples, and at the end of the day, get what you like.

Majestic and royals from Apache are great. Have a set of royals and love them.

Custom ceramics are great. Just ordered a huge cash and tourney set.

CPCs are awesome, but like others said, expensive and the wait is long. Have not gone this route yet, but eventually will .

If you like real casino chips, there are plenty of options here for $1-$1.50 a chip for casino used. I just put a mixed used set together for $0.90/chip.

Keep asking questions. Tons of great people here with a wealth of knowledge and advice.

Enjoy the journey.

@eadorin
That's what an inlay is, as opposed to a sticker label

Traditional "American casino clay" (compression-molded) is the best material of course, currently offered to the general public only by CPC, but it takes some money and some wait.
Still less stressful and, most probably, less expensive than waiting, praying and begging for second-hand Paulsons (the older leaded Paulsons are in a class of their own feel-wise and sound-wise but they cost crazy money, if ever available).

Majestics and Royals are "China Clays" produced under the supervision of Apache, and they are truly excellent value for money chips. If China Clays, I 'd only get them from Apache.

Get samples from both CPC and Apache.
And don't forget there are also off-the-shelf (no-custom, no-wait) CPCs (including the "Key West" chips, offered by the name-sake firm, also a vendor here).
