Can someone point me to some Pron of CPC set without inlays. Not a hot stamped set. I'm just trying to get a feel for if I want a 7/8th round inlay or no inlay.

Thanks

While not a full set, here are some chips I have that I have removed the inlay from. They will be getting a label from Gear eventually. Hopefully it helps.

Thanks, but what I'm looking for is a finished set that still has the "no inlay" so I can see how it looks compared to the inlay set. I'm using the Knollwoods as my inlay example.

I'm just wondering if it is worth the cost bump to put a round inlay in.

Unless it will be a limit cash game set, it is worth it for sure. Even then I would want inlays, but can understand why a person wouldn't.

I might just not understand the options. Is it possible to print anything on the chip (besides a hot stamp) if you don't have an inlay?

No. The inlay is a separate piece of material - a white disc on which your design is printed.

In the final stage of molding the chip, after the spots have been put in, but before it is pressed in the final mold, the inlay is put onto the chip and it's pressed into place during the molding.

If you get a chip made without inlays, it will be blank clay across the face. It will have the same surface texture as an inlaid chip - the surface texture comes from the mold - but it will have no print, because printing is not done onto clay.

(Ceramic chips have print directly on the chip, but those are an entirely different beast.)

Thanks. So simple, but I had this vision of like a silk screened print on the chip.

No inlay, means you either hot stamp or get a sticker. got it.

I'm going inlay.

A sticker/label wouldn't work either unless you have a chip like mine above that had an inlay already that has been removed. There isn't a recess for the label to go into and would cause the chips to spin and not stack correctly.

Some molds (I forget which) have a slight recess which can take a thin sticker. Some (most?) don't.

Chips can also be milled to create a recess (search on chip milling), but it's easier not to need to do that.

Get samples from CPC -- this includes a color sample set, and a mold sample set. Every mold is different. You are likely planning on spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on this project, samples are cheap insurance that you don't end up wasting your money on something you really don't like once it's in your hands. They don't take returns.
