I’m looking I to making a tourney set custom by CPC I’m still in the making of my labels but in the mean time I’m trying to figure out when it come to prices. What the hell is chip level mean on the price listings I don’t understand what it means

Cost is based on the complexity of edge spots. A chip with no edge spots is the cheapest, a chip with simple spots costs extra but not too much more, and complex edge spots get to be the most expensive. The "levels" that you see on the price list indicate the complexity (and cost) of the edge spot.

You can play around on the CPC chip design tool to visualize what your chips will look like and see what edge spots look the best. It will tell you on the screen the level of edge spot for each one used.

Have fun and take your time designing your chips and inlay! It's a big chunk of change to put down so make sure you're happy with what you're going to get!

Here is the link to the edge spot levels

I see so thats where it can really start costing a lot of money with the levels you can fall Into

Ok so I have 1 set up and it’s level 8 b mold and the level 8 is listed outside of that range so that would be over 3$ a chip correct me if I’m wrong

Also, the same spot pattern can have multiple levels depending on the number of colors used. more color = more $$$. Yes, costs per chip can get crazy very fast

Wow I just put together what I was thinking about doing and damn I went limp I think it’s a hard pass for now haha

I had the same reaction you did when I first designed my set. Consider it an opportunity to really focus on colors and design. I’m curious what your initial level 8 chip(a) looked like and I think you’ll be happy with your end result. There are some amazing sets that don’t break the bank.

if you have caviar tastes but a Long John Silver’s budget it can be hard to do. Either save a lot more money or look for similar spots that are a lower level.

I spent the extra money on my cash set because that is what I play 90% of the time. But I also wanted a custom tournament set. So when I designed it I went with lower level spots. Most casinos use solids for tournaments anyways, less security needed since the chips don’t have cash value. Even for a budget/value set I was able to get a variety of spots and have an edge spot progression. Set cost about $2/chip.

That’s a nice set there it would be so much easier if I could get 100-200 chips at a time but they have the 300 chip minimum I’ve been messing around with it and managed to cut $400 so far so I’ll keep at it but solids are a good idea. I’ve just ever really carried about them.

If it's a tourney set you're after, have you considered Key West chips that @dennis63 sells? Below $2 a chip in nice, old school Vegas colors. And a bigger discount for PCF'ers and larger purchases.
I think the only time I’ve seen key west chips was in Jon hobbies videos lol.

you can build a single table tournament set with 400 chips. That allows you to get 4 different designs, all you need for 1 table.

Roughly what did you pay for that set
I got all of the tournament chips "used" that cost me $1.25 per chip. Only the $25's of the set are worn down a little, but my goodness, they're broken so perfectly that they're buttery smooth to handle but they all still have square enough edges that they stand on edge. The $100's, $500's, $1k's, $5k's, and $25k's are all basically like new/near mint.

All of the $1's and $5's I bought are mint and have been oiled lightly. I spent $1.79 plus shipping on those. Current price right now IIRC is $1.85 per chip plus shipping.

And you got these from CPC and others or just another person

I have this set on order now all made with the plain (25c) and level 1 design on the horse head mold. The horse head, my most preferred and also one of the least expensive mold. Your order will be made in que with more common molds and volume seeing your chips more likely produced sooner.....I was told 6-8months back in November for a 2050 chip order. Looking forward to a custom set of chips that fit the family pub theme. The difference of simple edge spot design and going wild with colours is quite significant. My design label is basic and simple, you can get very creative with full colour designs. To highlight this point this similar set done up with fancy coloured edge spots would cost approx $1200USD more than the simple set I have on order below. If you are on a budget decide on what games you want to cover with your set denominations etc... then choose and edge spot level and live within that limit. Splurg with fancy spots on your high denom chips that you will print less of, while keeping your more numerous chips more simple is also a strategy. I am so excited to have a small card rooms mountain of chips on order so will be swimming in chips by summer....

A thought I had for secondary chips would be very much more costly..... over $1200 more, could be more I stopped adding once I got to that #

I still Liked the Secondary Idea so went in on a group buy and have these on order as well, like the CPC spec above for the final production of China Clays. China Clay's with more exotic edge spots at about 1/4-1/3rd the cost of CPC chips depending how much shipping ends up costing in the end. For the China clays all the chips were the same price regardless of edge-spot.
