I've been holding off on posting regarding this project so as not to potentially influence the contest I organized for the dragons add-on.

My Dragons...

...are a mult-purpose set; filling the role of limit cash or tourney (though obviously not in play at the same time for both purposes).

I've always liked hotstamps and want something that will serve as a full cash set using that medium. I've been working at these colors for quite some time and can say that they are 95% what will be sent for production.

Yes... a black nickel. :D

I like black hotstamps especially and given I'm not producing a $100, I wanted to fit one black denom into the set. Fracs generally have a lot of latitude in colors so... why not. I don't really need $100 chips anyway; and though I was tempted to get a few, I don't want to spend $50-150 for another die for a chip that will likely never hit the table.

Also, though I know many cash sets vary their spot patterns but I just have an affinity for 3D14. I REALLY like those spots. The $20's are purely for rebuy/bank and I want them to really stand out.

The varied denom colors in the mock are just so they stand out in the pic. The stamps will all be gold in color.

A major concern I have is the stamp diameter for the Elephant mould. CPC lists it at 3/4's of an inch... a opposed to 7/8th's on "A" and "Jockey". In general, I prefer the inlay/stamp area to be larger.

David S. provided me some mocks so as to give me an idea of how large the stamps will appear:

tmp1.png

I already have a set with A's, and I'm not a fan of Jockey at all.

What I must answer is:

1) Is the 3/4 stamp diameter something I can live with:
2) If not, do I want another set on the "A" mould?

I have some thinking to do.

I have some time given the funds aren't available for me to go forward yet. 5 separate dies, die setup, & stamping fees ratchet up the cost per chip considerably.

The next major step to complete though is the stamp artwork.

Like I did for the Dragons, I'll be contacting one of our talented PCF denizens to design the stamp art. Once that step is complete I'll get some pics posted here.... probably in the next 2-3 months.

I previously said the colors are “95%”... which directly translates to “not done at all”. :ROFLMAO:

Leaning toward these now:

I’m not actually sure I’ll include a 50c given die costs but we DO use that denom so it wouldn’t be a total waste.

The other difference is the inclusion of 6A14’s. Those, plus keeping the fracs at 3D14 would make for some nice but simple spot progression.

The more I see scrowns... the more I want scrowns.

The issue is: can't do scrowns with hotstamps. Thus, I may lean toward not doing hotstamps at all and having a new inlay designed for something like these:

Not sure of the theme yet... if any.

The 25¢ and $1 respectively are homage to two of my favorite casino designs... the Motor City quarter and the New China Club dollar.

Don't think so. Plus, the current design probably doesn't need it. I'm thinking a dark background inlay.

Either do it all-the-way old-fashioned, with no spots at all and hot stamps, or inlayed with spots.
Breakdown-wise, I would go 10-50-100-500-1000 or 2000 (cents or T units):D

Heh... must_have_spots_must_have_spots_must_have_spots_must_have_spots_must_have_spots_must_have_spots_must_have_spots_must_have_spots.... :ROFLMAO:

No offense to solids advocates, but they are definitely not for me.

The breakdown and quantities for each denom is the only thing I'm absolutely sure on given the formats and stakes we play. Plus, at 1000 chips, the order will have plenty of bank for if we ever desire to go beyond our regular 5¢/10¢, 10¢/20¢, or 25¢/50¢ games.

Last mock for a while.

I "THINK" this should avoid any dirty stack issues given no more than 3 or 4 adjacent denoms will ever be on the table simultaneously.

Not sure on the $5 spot colors. It looks interesting... and the color samples are ok together.... I... just... don't... know....

As is, it might be the most popular chip at Christmas.

The next time I post a mock with of these it'll include the actual inlays... art and all. That I can get done fairly soon.

Saving to afford all these... well... another story.

I miss the black chip being a worker.

Nothing like a radical redesign to enlighten your day.

The more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of a black chip as a workhorse cash chip rather than a rarely used $100 bank.

Thus...

No, I'm not letting go of my Motor City quarter tribute. ;)

The $1000 and $500 are just there as novelties. A barrel each will get produced though they won't hit the table in our current cash format. I just like that the set will have the capability to handle a myriad of different stakes.

Of all the mocks I've worked up for this cash set, I'm the most contented with this one; though, I'm still on the fence a little about the $100's spot colors... @SeanGecko I may steal your grey/canary/red design from your nickel. ;)

The next time I post a mock I hope to include true inlays. In that regard, a PCF designer has been contacted. Stay tuned.

Updated with stolen colors:

Going to be ordering in August. Still no inlay art yet. Hope to have something to show soon.

The latest:

Dropped the $500 and $1000 in lieu of denoms that will actually hit the table.

Getting very close to order point. Project is just over 90% funded.

The inlay artist, J5, should have something for me in a week or three.

However, the problem is that I keep playing with my sample set and the design tool. I now am torn between two different designs:

I still have a little time. Will know better when inlays are in the pic too...

Black $1's are unorthodox.

How about blue $5's ?!

cash_scrown12.png

Part of my struggle is to imagine how splashed pots would look with the common chips employed by 5¢/10¢, 25¢/50¢, and 50¢/$1 games, and make them look cohesive with each other. This is a very "right-brained" exercise.

Well... I could very well become the self-proclaimed king of non-traditional colors then!

...until others post pron of actual chips, dethroning me.

A lot of blue $5 and even a black one too.

I can stop any time I want!

The design on post 17 above is still current. I'm not throwing it out in lieu of this. I just thought this to be an interesting alternative.... I sort of want both sets.

The bright blue and charcoal nickel just looks so good to me. Plus the varying semi-subtle spots on the $1 I think would look fantastic.

DESIGN FINAL - ART COMPLETE

The colors, spots and inlay art for my scrown order are all complete. See below:

cash_scrown19.png

....so "where's the art?" ...you ask? I don't own it yet and don't feel right posting J5's mock until I do.

That will change shortly.

In the next day or three, look for my samples purchase thread. Everything will be there.

THOSE PURSUING THEIR OWN SCROWN ORDERS, BE AWARE:
David at CPC has alerted me that orders for scrown need to be in very soon. Most likely by the end of next week or very early the following week. Consult with him if you want to be sure.
