One day, when I get the scratch, I'd like to do a full CPC custom set. Here is my idea, if that day should ever come…

Background
  • The main theme will be pittsburgh based, specifically around pittsburgh sports.
  • Secondary theme will be Italy. My dad came here when he was about 13 years old, and my mom's parents migrated over here as well.
  • I like the idea of merging pittsburgh sports and Italy together because even though my dad was originally from Italy, he was deeply connected to the city once he came over. Yes, he of course worked in the steel mills, but he was always very proud to be from Pittsburgh. And every Sunday was reserved for… you guessed it, steeler games.
  • The color scheme is a little tough to work with since black and gold are the prominent colors. So, some colors might repeat a bit.
  • The overall feel should be rustic and old school. No flashy bright colors.
  • Its hard not to get inspired by all of the custom sets here, but the lucky Buddha set was definitely a big inspiration. Probably the GOAT cpc custom.
  • Went with the B mold since my last name begins with B.
  • I said this was a tribute set as well because my dad passed away from cancer in 2019. My dad passed before I started hosting games, so it will be cool to get these done at some point so we never forget where it all started with our “after dinner games”

Enough talk, let's get to some pictures…

This shade of green reminds me of my dad's work clothes when he would go off to the steel mill.

When you think of old school pittsburgh sports, this is the color scheme you think of.

The blue on blue takes direct inspiration from the penguin jerseys. Also think it's the same chip as the Cali bells.

Italian flag, duhhh. Also the flag of the region we're from, abruzzo.

Another duhh moment, pretty much the exact colors of the steelers logo.

I used enough blue, black, yellow, and red so I had to dig a bit. Went with the colors from the homestead grays / pittsburgh maulers

.

First time I’m showing these, so feedback is welcome to get them just right.

These look great and love the idea behind them. Only suggestion off hand is to switch yellow to canary on the 25c. The Bucco's 70's uniforms were very bright and CPC yellow is really dull if you have not seen it live.

Also, in for sample set.

I love the idea and the design so far. The only chip I don't like is the $1. I know you use white spots on the $5, but maybe doing two blue spots and two white spots on the $1 would look nice. As it is it reminds me too much of the Paulson fantasy chips.

(This is just one man's ignorant opinion, so if you like the $1 you came up with then disregard my post!)

You need to get a CPC colour sample first of all. I would choose grey or charcoal for the base colour for the $20. As previously mentioned, canary for the frac base colour. potentially you could do blurple and dayglo tiger spots on the hundo.

I like where you're headed, here's what I might do. Also, Canary is the yellow you want for the Pirates colors I think, and DG Saturn looks nothing like the Steeler's yellow. Make sure you get a color sample before you buy.

I also like a little lighter base $1 chip with the dark $20 personally.

Still been playing with this, latest revisions.

Dropped the hundo, so the order would be 5c to 20.
