Hi,

I've decided to go full custom and only keep 3 sets : one SunFly PolyInno, one SunFly PolyClay and one CPC.
All the sets in my signature will land in the classified soon.

Regarding the CPC set, it'll be on one of the following mold :
A-crest
Horsehead
Cards & Dice

Is there any specific pros and cons for these mold ? (ex: some being more subject to chipping, ...)

Kid.

A-crests are the only ones readily available anytime. They 're quite decent by all means and go well with any A-related theme.
Cards and Dice are very nice pictorially (at least for my taste) but I don't know how they sound.
Horseshoes look and sound great (actually, the best-sounding CPC mold that I 've shuffled, even better than MDs, IMHO). Worth the wait if you have a rural / horse related theme.

To be honest visually my preference goes to Dice and Cards.

For the theme, it’ll be inspired by the WSOP logo. It’ll be a solid tournament set.

There are a lot of threads and polls on here covering cpc/ asm molds, no to mention tons of pron. Take your time and get samples!

I am not in a hurry. And I’ll take an educated decision. I am just wondering if for instance some mold are more prone to chipping, flatness issues, ...

@BGinGA has pointed out that molds with two concentric lines are less prone to wear.
But I wonder if you 'll ever notice any difference in home use.

So basically like on the THC 39mm ?
I think it does play a role. My Cal-Neva solids THC from the 80’s are casino used but with very few flea bites.
On the other hand, more recent RHC without the concentric outside ring seem to be more prone to chipping...

Sure, but the question is if it matters for home use, which is a tiny fraction of casino use.

This is certainly the knock on RHC. But unless you're playing hours a day, you probably wouldn't notice.

Most of the difference between CPC molds comes to to appearance and feel. However, the only spinners I've experienced among CPC chips have been in the H molds. See if you can borrow a barrel of each of the different molds, and see what you think. For me, the DIASQR and CSQ molds feel the best, but I like them all. Good luck with your upcoming set!

From my experience, CPCs are made of a harder material than Paulson's and are less prone to chipping regardless of the mold.

I haven't seen any Dice and Card sets come out of CPC in recent memory. Unless you are placing a very large order, you could be waiting years for the mold to go into production.

Durability is likely not going to be an issue.

Feel/Sound vary between molds.

Some molds also go better with certain inlay/artwork themes.

I have a set on both the A-molds and HHR. It depends on the theme but on feel alone I much prefer the HHR. They shuffle like butter and just feel really good. I can't say much about the Cards and Dice, but in a vacuum, aesthetically I prefer the HHR out of all three.

Agree^^^

H-mold def has more warping issues than other CPC molds. Any of the molds will chip if dropped onto a hard surface (concrete, tile, etc.), but the CPC chip material formula is pretty hard and does not readily chip during play (unlike RHC Paulsons).

Biggest differences in the various CPC molds are appearance, weight, sound, and feel. Get samples...... and before you commit, get a barrel each of the final contenders for a head-to-head comparison.

Like others have said, A-mold is the only one available most of the time so I'd keep that in mind if time is a factor to you.

Also... dibs on hot stamps :D

If I was getting a CPC set made, the one mold I definitely wouldn't use is the A-mold but only because it's the most common and the "A" frustrates me. It would be stonking if the A was replaced with another dash or something that's not a letter.

SCrown, CSQ and DiaSqr are my favourites from the non-specific molds. If I was doing a theme and the mold fits then it's a different story (e.g. a circus theme and the E&C mold).

I own a set of Horsehead mold CPCs. I've had the chips for a couple of years. I host a regular cash game and my chips now have approximately 60-75 hours of play on them. Absolutely no issues to this point. No chipping, no breakage. Guys treat them just like they would if they were playing in a casino, meaning they toss them around a bit, but the chips have held up great. I highly recommend the Horsehead mold! Also I was very happy with the way my chips came out. CPC did an excellent job. I ordered 500 and found no significant flaws in any chip. Overall satisfaction A+!

@Matty88 For my custom solid, I finally went the Starburst THC + milling + laminated Gear labels route.
But for Horsehead mold, I keep in mind this hotstamp cash set : The Post II  :ROFLMAO:

My a-molds have been put in play 20-25 times now with another bout scheduled this weekend. No chipping or other wear is visible.

OP: no consideration for scrown? :D

In the meantime I decide to go with THC mold.

My CPC set is a retro inspired H Mold set. While perusing the Chip Guide one day I came across chips used at the Sands in Vegas (rat pack) during the 1960s - have since learned the actual molds used by CPC are the very same ones that pressed those classic Vegas chips. Love the H mold for classic/retro themes.
