CPC: Mixing DG and non-DG colours for chip bases? (1 Viewer)

What are peoples experiences/recommendations for choosing base colours for their lineups? Is it better to be consistent (all DG or all non-DG)?

My concern, esp. with lighter colours, is the metallic flakes in the non-DG colours. Would a single, lighter non-DG base colour look odd in a lineup of otherwise all-DG bases?

On my Hoser Hut set, all the base colours were DG, except for my $20 (charcoal), but it's not really noticeable with charcoal being fairly dark.

It makes no difference to me and I freely mix and match based on what I'm feeling. Only once was it pointed out that the flakes weren't consistent on one of my sets and it was by a non-chipper who uses terrible plastic chips when he hosts.

A well balanced set should have a nice mix of colors. All DG bases would be…. Ehhh….

Not saying it shouldn’t be done, but why limit yourself.

There should be none. Same molds and process. Dayglo bases are about 0.25-0.5g lighter, I think.

That depends more on the mold than colors, some molds are older and more inconsistent so you will see differences within the same denom.

I’ve got varying stack heights, within a given rack of CPCs. Within a specific denom..

Mixing bases would most likely net the same results. I’ll soon find out as I set out on my own custom set. I’m presently playing with my Color sample
