CPC Flecking question (2 Viewers)

Are weighted base chips significantly heavier than non-weighted? Say if a weighted 418 and non weighted 418 were in the same set as 1's and 5's, would it be noticeable to the handler?

I know, I know I need to sample everything and I'm working on it but I'm doin' mockups and it would be good to know.

edit: I think I've figured out the answer to my own question and it's "kind of, yeah, it does, but I guess you have to be paying attention to it."

Ok new question, is there anywhere where the precise average weights of chips from different molds/manufacturers/whatever have been documented?

Basically only noticeable to chip nerds. An astute noob would probably notice if lifting/holding/comparing two barrels of twenty weighted/unweighted chips.

the precise average

This should be the name of the band.

To answer your question, no, and it would be something of a fool's errand for various reasons to try it. There's too many variables at play - not just the ones you mentioned, but also year of manufacture, color, and condition, to name a few. It's possible even things like inlay shape and the presence of various security measures could play a part. Assuming one was able to collect such data and come up with a "precise" average weight, the odds of it being directly useful/applicable in its raw form are extremely low because the odds of someone getting chips in quantity that replicates the exact conditions of the measured chips is slim to none.

I've done a lot of weighing barrels of various ASM and Paulson chips and noted results in random threads on the blue wall and here.

In general, ASM/CPC chips avg 8 - 8.5 grams regardless of weighted/unweighted, color, mold, etc. Paulsons are usually between 9 - 11 grams but will vary more due to lead content, etc. I've not done much testing with other chips.

I just weighed the 10pc Inlayed edgespot sample set from CPC I have here, & they collectively showed 86 grams ...

I'm tempted to venture deeper through those ruins but I'm afraid that pics I will want to see will be gone and I will be filled with chip-rage. Eh, better thicken my skin with the achives here first. Got to raise my chip-IQ (CIQ) before I can become a junior chipologist.

I think I prefer the look of non-flecked but prefer the weight of flecks. Same old universe, you answer one question and ten more pop up.
