Hi everyone. I am new to the forum, but have been looking at poker chips for years. I regret not getting a Paulson home set when they were about $1 a chip!

Anyhow, I am seriously considering a CPC custom set, before the price hikes kick in. I am a big fan of bigger inlays, so I chose a 1-1/16" inlay on the hourglass mold. Am thinking of configuring a set good for 50c/$1 or $1/$2. Welcome any comments :)

Have you handled samples and seen the colours in person? This is a must, regardless of the price hike. Taking your time and making sure you get it right the first time is worth the extra .25/chip. Don't be like me get it wrong on your first 2 custom sets...

I must confess I have not, but I have looked at multiple pictures from this forum before landing on these colour combis, which I am confident will look alright.

I love the theme - always been interested in Ancient civilizations, especially Egypt. The background hieroglyphs are way better than the brick pattern of The Egyptians set, and the graphics look clean.
My creative suggestion would be to change the font to something that resembles an Ancient Egyptian style, just to harmonize with the theme.
The Bauhaus/Broadway typeface combo does tie in with the early 1900s style, the same era when Tutankhamun’s tomb was discovered. It makes me picture these chips are from an Egyptian casino back in the mid/late 1920s.
If I had the money to invest in a custom set, Egyptian would be my second choice.
(I almost had a Paulson Pharaoh‘s set but not enough $$$ for it.)

Good luck with the purchase!

Like SteveEH said 100% get samples before placing a big order. The colors in this graphic look really good though. I wish there was a shop we could go to in person to look at a wide range of colors/molds.

Thanks everyone for your comments. While I don’t have the actual chips, I have used an iteration of what @chipinla shared, as well as look at other people’s CPC sets.

Some specific references I used:

$100 chip, as well as hourglass mold with 1-1/16” inlays

$20 chip (I used DG yellow spots instead for even higher contrast)

$5 chip (I used red instead of retro red. Chips will probably look a bit duller but should have good contrast).

25c chip (I used DG peach instead of butterscotch for brighter spots)

“Ankh” chip

Can’t find a white $1 chip with the spots I chose. I think the closest are these two, combined. In any case I think it’s a pretty safe choice.

nice start, i like almost all of your color choices. 2 comments:

1) why use $0.25 instead of $0.50 if your minimum stakes are $0.50/$1?
2) those stripes on anubis's neck are a prime candidate for some subtle color matching

Thanks for all the feedback.

These are good ideas and I will mull over them.

I have also decided not to rush in. Feedback from other threads suggests that hourglass isn't the best CPC mold. I will get some samples instead!

If the OP's group of players don't mind posting SB w/2 chips, 25¢ would have that recommended 4x-5x increment between denoms and give more flexibility, if, say, playing w/different groups of people, some of whom may want to play lower stakes (25¢/25¢ or 25¢/50¢) sometimes, or if playing higher stakes games but w/quarter antes (like stud games).

I see you mention above about getting samples but is that in reference to mould samples only? Trust us when we say get a CPC colour sample... it makes no sense to drop a large wad of dough on a set but then to try and save a paltry amount and not get a sample set. Pics don't give a good frame of reference as lighting and different monitors can play tricks on your eyes. A colour sample is money well spent and will save you from making a costly mistake.

I love the design you’re going for there. I’ve always been a fan of anything from the ancient Egyptian period. Anubis is definitely a good choice!

FDL mold also uses large inlays and is a way better looking mold than the hour glass imo.

+1 for getting samples, really
One of the members typed to me about pokerchipdesign.com Also I found a font site called fontspace.com Maybe in the late future, I might go to chiplab or BR and have them design for me a Miami Deco using denom's of 25c, 50c, 1.00, and 5.00 using seafoam green, pink and black (with 3x double block edge of silver and undecided). The image might be a palm tree or a silhouette of a deco hotel.

Green Emerald City is AWESOME!

Dont mean to hijack the thread but are CPC inlays not at all glossy? From the pics I have seen they seem to have no glossiness like a paulson RHC does.
