I saw Mike "The Mouth" Matusow's twitter thread. Mike doesn't believe Covid-19 is serious so he was retweeting someone saying they'd rather kill themselves than play like this. I would prefer not to play like this either in a Casino. I would rather force everyone to wear masks and gloves at the Casino. What does everyone think of playing like this at home or in a casino? And would you have a problem if the Casino's made you play like this?

If that setup legitimately becomes the new norm for live poker, then I'm staying at home and will just start hosting more home games (once it's safe to do so, obviously). It looks so far from enjoyable, I'd rather not bother spending my money playing live in the first place.

I'd be fine with it. Like pick your spot, you want it, or you don't. This is how it goes until the vaccine is widely available.

I agree with the liability point. Personal opinion - once we go back to having theaters open, and fans in sports stadiums, among other things, having 8-9 people sitting around a traditional poker table by comparison isn't going to be as much of a risk.

I don’t disagree but when do you think sport stadiums will open? I don’t see that for awhile. Theaters on the other hand are easier because you can much easier distance people and there are smaller groups. Stadiums involved tens of thousands of people entering and exiting and using the bathroom at the same time. I could t imagine going to a sporting event and maintain social distancing, but I definitely can at a movie.

From what I’ve heard, the initial plans for reopening Vegas include 4-max tables, not plexiglass. Could be both, I suppose. But something tells me this picture was just somebody’s prototype. There’s no way anybody in the gaming world would expect players would actually go for that.

Try just need to replace the perfume/air freshener dispersion system with a disinfectant spray.

I could envision them having smaller rooms that are closed every two hours for fifteen minutes to use a disinfectant aerosol on everything.

Copper plate the bars and tables as well.

Here is something somewhat interesting. I just got an email from Hard Rock Stadium (where the Miami Dolphins play near Hard Rock Seminole Casino). Apparently they are partnering with some international al cleaning association to certify specific cleaning and disinfecting standards for areas of public accommodation. I wonder if this is going to go to Hard Rock Casinos as well in an effort to open up.

“Hard Rock Stadium and the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, today announced that the global sports and entertainment venue has committed to become the first public facility to receive GBAC STAR™ accreditation. This initiative will serve as the gold standard for facilities to implement cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention work practices to control risks associated with infectious agents.”

Hey look, we can create a meaningless accreditation that gives people the warm, fuzzy feeling they desire while creating business for all our 'members'.

They should have come up with a better name than STAR

Seems like a lot of industries have some kind of accreditation/award platform which is just a marketing arm.

I can’t even imagine how terrible this would be in a well lit poker room. Glare from every conceivable angle... not to mention any communication almost to annoying.

I will never play cards in a casino again if this is the future of casino poker.
Poker to me is about being social with your friends, being able to go to war with them on the felt and enjoying their company in the process.
If I have to sit in a box at Borgata to play cards, I’d rather just stay home.
Here’s to things normalizing again.

I actually thought poker tables and dealers would be replaced with electronic tables - perfect opportunity for properties to reduce their costs on poker (which isn’t a big money maker for them) and still retain some players (since a lot of us would be happy to play live again under almost any circumstances).

...but that doesn’t look like poker in that picture. I wouldn’t bother playing that.

I've seen this image a bunch of times and thought it was a joke. Am I wrong here?
It's a real prototype in multiple casinos

I hope not. There's a reason electronics tables haven't caught on
