@moose wasn't discrediting you sir, he was simply saying that @MaxB did an awesome job with the Barney DVD cover.

Awesome Jeton sir! In the US we mostly have plain old poker chips! For the most part Europe steps the game up with all the Jetons and plaques! Really cool seeing some of the old memorobilia that is found from time to time over there!!

Keep on sharing your treasures! Pretty damn cool!

It is surprising to me that a European casino already in the late 19th century would have a dedicated poker jeton, let alone have poker as a game.

"Poker is essentially an American game that evolved from the French game of pogue and the English game of brag. (Antique gambling chips, Dale Seymour)" You are correct, poker was well played in the mid 1800s with the well known ivory chips in the States. I now little of the American poker history because I collect Belgium and MOP. So these are strange to see. That's why I posted the postcard also. Look carefully at the table and count the seats. Normally the game Bacarrat would be played in the French casino's but Dieppe was an important harbor. As you will see on the chipguide there are two other examples of MOP but also the postcards show that Dieppe had a wide variaty of games. I am still looking for proof on the poker being played there, but as you know such things are not eassy too proof. Jo
