Hi all!

First post on this excellent forum

I'm looking at buying and importing a set of 300 Bank or Majestic CC chips from pokershop.de to the UK. I've been searching both on here and the internet in general and I cannot figure out a rough figure for the extra import costs and duties.

The set is €220 or roughly £190 and postage €34/£30

Does anyone here from the UK have any experience ordering from Europe or know how I'd work out the extra costs?

Thanks very much in advance for any help!

I'd be looking to run an 8 person single table tournament with one rebuy. Wanting to start with somewhere between 30-40 chips per player.

Ideally I'd be looking at either a set with T5, T25, T100, T500 & T1000 or T25, T100, T500, T1000 & T5000 chips.

An alternative suggestion and I have been thinking about pulling the trigger on some of these chips:

If your a fan the movie, these could be a nice touch to your tournament.
I do like the look of these. I'm planning on getting 10g chips though. I compulsively play with chips as I'm playing the game (as I'm sure most people here do) and I don't want anything heavier than that as my hands hurt enough after a session with 10g chips as it is haha!

You will probably be looking at somewhere between £40 and £50. VAT is calculated on the total including shipping and sometimes they don't even convert the total to GBP before charging 20% (thieving b*&^ards) .

However, due to the current government's ineptitude, I hear there is very little customs processing of shipments from the EU. Therefore, you might be lucky, but you should probably account for sod's law it.

Thanks for your response! That's interesting to hear regarding the processing! Would be nice to have some benefit, however small of, the government's inability to do their job right

So I ended up going for a set of Bank chips and I did indeed get lucky! Thanks very much for mentioning it!

How much duty did you end up paying on this? I'm from the UK and wanting to do the exact same thing but with Majestic Chips
I paid £53.98 duty in the end. I bought the set of 300 chips with the regular case. Plus an extra 50 chips (which fit nicely in the case in one of the two spaces for a deck of cards) and a dealer button. Got the bill for the duty separately a week or so later. I put off paying it until my next payday so that lightened the hit a bit.

Keep meaning to post a review of them on here. Overall really happy with them. Had that China Clay stank about them the first time you open the case but after a couple of games it's not at all noticeable.

Much appreciated for the info! Such a shame we don't have any decent suppliers in the UK and have to rely on importing.

I look forward to the review!
