When it comes to my chipping career, there are 2 things I like more than most: Ducks and Ceramic chips. Therefore, I wanted to create a 43mm hybrid set that incorporated both of these.

In order to do that, I sought help from this elite unit:
  • @p5woody - Artist Extraordinaire - 10 pounds of talent in a 5 pound bag - absolutely amazing to work with. Fun Fact: He prefers to be called "Woody". Apparently, PCF folks are among the few that call him "Steve"
  • @BGinGA - Chipes Xbert - Every time I pushed back on Dave in terms of design, I was wrong. He is my chip mentor and, IMO, the most generous/helpful person in this community. Couldn't have done this without him. Fun Fact: Dave's screen name stands for "Backgammon in Georgia", pronounced "B-G in G-A", not "B-Ginga". Not everyone knows that.
  • @MegaTon44 - Yeah...I got nothin
This order has just been placed so pr0n is coming in a few weeks, but I wanted to share the mocks for now as a ton of effort from the design team went in to building this.

Samples: Not planning to sell any at the moment, but I will provide an update if that changes

Thanks so much Dave and Woody. Couldn't have asked for a better team!

Thanks for reading!
Dan

Niiiice, you're definitely going to love the 43m hybrids, they're awesome, great feel to them. How big of a set did you get, and what's the bounty for in a cash game?

Below is the invoice from Sunfly with the details. Shipping is a whore, but chip prices make it a no-brainer. As for Bounty chips, no use with this set unless I want to do a small starting stack. Figured I'd snag some for any tournaments I may have.

Is this a follow up to the "Angry Mallard" design from the blue wall, if I remember correctly?
Yes sir, Angry Mallard was an inspiration for the center design, but we changed the duck and the shape in the background (keystone shape representing PA, instead of Arkansas outline). The spots/edges/colors drew no inspiration from that set.

Sweet chips dan

I remember the angry mallard chips actually. I use to lurk on chip talk quite a bit and buy a few things here and there. Didnt realize that was yours until the above comment. 3225 chips is a monster set.

Here's the Angry Mallard set (not my idea). It is actually monetized and in production on a German site. The general concept of Mad Duck was inspired by this set, but we took it in a different direction.

@WedgeRock - Yep, 25 buttons. Never know when I'm going to start my own poker room

Holy crap balls Dan, you've come a long way since your first casino set so many moons ago. Let me know when these chips arrive, need a sample but also need to make a pilgrimage to play in a game with these (or the Blue Mtn). Grats man, but I gotta ask why not tourney chips too?

Thanks Tim! I have you to blame for all this. :p

Honestly, I run a multi-table cash game monthly and needed to build up a nice big cash set. Eventually, I plan to build a tourney set, but need to save up some pennies first. Also have a few other custom projects to contend with in terms of funds.

And you are absolutely welcome any time to make the trek up. My house is open to you. Haven't played the Blue Mountain Casino chips in a while because my basement floor is concrete and I don't have enough $5s to spread 3 tables of action. However, if you came up, I'd make it work.

Thanks again!

Guy orders a baller set of 3,200+ chips, and promptly gets asked by scrub donkeys why he didn't order MORE. :D :D :D :D Lol, only on PCF.....

And even better, the guy's response is "I plan to get more in the future."

:wow:

I like them a lot. But will admit I was a little disappointed as I was expecting the camo design.
Couldn't do it KC. I liked the idea of a mallard, but camo and a faux duck foot mold didn't do it for me. Very early thoughts were to make the center design close to the Angry Mallards, but with more of a BJ chip design. However, once we realized that the center design was put into production in Germany, we decided to do our own thing. That's where Woody's genius came into play.

Whoa whoa whoa.....hold the fuck on! Is the Angry Mallard set your idea?!?! I'M CONFUSED.

Quack quack, mother ducker! Nice set, mate.

And then I saw the 3300 count and super-lol'd. What's the breakdown?

Every time I pushed back on Dave in terms of design, I was wrong.
Other than the first set I ever built, any time I've run into a tough design problem or a close call between choices I try to solicit @BGinGA. The result is never bad. Either I agree with him and I'm happy with the chips (and potentially save money in the long run by avoiding costly reproductions), or I don't agree with him (and I know exactly why I don't) and I'm happy with the chips because the design idea passed through his fire. I frequently enlist the help of others as well, but I've never found getting Dave's input on set design to be a bad decision as long as you want your feedback straight and undiluted - and as far as I'm concerned, when it comes to artistic endeavors, that's the best way to take it.

No sir, not my idea. Since I love ducks (see avatar), the idea was brought up that "someone should finally make the Angry Mallard set". It was a fleeting thought as we realized that it was already mass produced in Europe. We wanted to keep some of the spirit of that set (hence the name play and the mallard), but it ended up being something completely different. This is what I wanted anyway as I disliked pretty much everything about that set aside from the cool duck artwork.

What's the breakdown?
Thanks Scott! Here's the breakdown

It's basically a 3,000-chip 4-table cash set with 25 spares per denomination, plus matching bounty chips in case it ever gets used as a T.25- or T1-base tourney set. Can also work as a fixed-limit set at several different stakes.

Oh, and 25 dealer buttons. I think he's gonna pass 'em out as card cappers during SOHE games. :)

Epic. Just fantastic. I'm first in line if you decide to offer samples. Hell - I bid $50. I get the clay-fandom, but as a ceramic guy myself - these just scream at me. Well done.

That's a damn steal. Do you have samples? How do I get my hands on some of these? Now I am already thinking of a set - just for meetups.

Thanks Craig! It really is a steal. Factor in 10-15 cents per chip for shipping, plus an international bank transfer fee of $40-$100, and they are still around 75 cents (aligned edges and faces) each shipped from China, fully custom.

As soon as @jbutler heard I was considering them, he mailed me out a sample of his newest set. I've been shuffling them for a week and I love them. I'm waiting to see pics of prototypes, then will request final adjustments before production. Once I get all my chips in, I'll assess the samples situation.

Thanks so much for the kind words!

If you do add-on in the future, toss a BOH in the cart for me, if you don't mind. These would probably be the one and ONLY barrel of ceramic chips allowed in BOH. They're so awesome!!

No surprise (Emerald Princess inspired?). :cool

Congrats, looks like a great deal of work went into the design. Looking forward to the pron!

Absolutely beautiful set man. I love the hybrids (even the 39mm). This design is so cool looking in every way. Great work and really looking forward to the final product.
