I'm organizing a playable THC set to relabel. I have acquired solid dark blue 0.25, solid white $1, and green happy knight $25 chips (these were bought with the label removed). I am having difficulty choosing the color that I want for the $5 chip - I really like both pumpkin and fuscia.

I will most likely start with a solid, but would eventually like to upgrade to a spot pattern in the future.

Simple question - which does PCF think will fit the set better? Edit: current chips can be seen below

I'd say a picture of the chips that you have now would be a good place to start. Ging without pictures, the lifeblood of PCF, I'm going to say pumpkin.

Edit: totally for the reasons @Quicksilver-75 mentioned.

I voted Fuschia.

Pumpkin seem similar to the Mapes $5, which is awesome, but there are also some Fuschia or Pink $5s I like -- Jesse Beck Riverside (grandma's face one), some Casablana $5s, Flamingo has a watermelon colored $5. Not that you have to be like another set, though.

What Quick silver said

he has an eye for these things. Ive had some work done by him in the past which is in my avatar. He made every label look like they were meant to be there. some people in my game took 3 games before they noticed they were custom labels. This, believe it or not, is the highest praise possible for this work. He makes them look like they are supposed to be there.

My suggestion is listen to Steve.

Ok pretty clear consensus for the pumpkin color.

My next question is: does it make a big difference between pumpkin and orange? I ask because finding 2 racks of pumpkin chips together may be difficult.

Now that's a horse of a different color, lol. I don't think it does. At least not for what you're trying to accomplish. Given a choice between ample and roughly equally priced options I'd probably go with the pumpkin just because it's subtley different than the norm. But if it makes the difference between this project being a go and not, you may have to compromise and go with what you can reasonably obtain. I'd even pay a small premium for pumpkin over orange, but again, if they simply can't be found it's of no help.

I was curious if I could link to photos from the Paulson Chip Color Reference under the Resources tab above (page 2 of 2), to show them all together. It seems to have worked!

Here are the color choices for the $5:

And the colors of the 0.25, $1, and $25 (I guessed Forest Green for the Happy Knight chip.)

Good luck finding pumpkin Paulson chips, solids or spotted. Not many around. Got something against red?

Do you think orange would be acceptable instead?

I have nothing against red, but I just prefer these colors with the chips that I already have. Nothing wrong with that in my mind...

I think orange would be fine. It really just comes down to how long you're willing to pay and how long you're willing to wait! You may want to pick up some red chips so you can play with them now, and sub them out with orange or pumpkin when you find them.

Jokers Wild quarters are carrot and readily available. Molds match too. You could even keep them as is and relabel the blue chips as $5s.

What do you guys think of this one? Any issues with the shared blue spot as the 25 cent chip?

hate to see a beautiful chip ruined, hope you don't mill it

I respect that. I thought about whether or not I would mill this chip before I posted - I didn't come to a conclusion, but I figured that the conversation would come up in this thread. Are there any chips that you would consider milling?

Full disclosure...I am sanding down some of the chips that I have shown above, but they were hot-stamped with initials. I had no problem with removing those hot-stamps.
