Hello all! New to this forum but I was formerly a chiptalk member back from 2008. I heard a lot migrated to this site so I am here and I look forward to meeting you all.

I am looking into creating custom sets, either ceramic or clay, for tourney and cash game.

I would like something like the title club ice poker room or "The Ice Club Poker Room". Willing to compensate designer for time. Looking forward to working with a brilliant one.

I saw these on a site and the look like custom hot stamps by Asm? Love the coloring and stripe combos with the exception of single stripe.

I would be interested in getting a design worked up for each set. I like unique edge spots and designs. Not really into classic/basic designs. I do like a denom that is easy to pick up on the inlay. Denoms for cash would be:

.25 $1 $5 $25 $100

Tourney: 25/100/500/1k/5k

Like the EPT chip because of the contemporary design.

Like the "dunes" writing that looks like it's etched into the mold.

This was a project I started working on with an artist that never fully developed.

Hi welcome to PCF.

First I think you need to decide on clay or ceramic before contacting an artist.

If you go clay check out www.pokerchipdesigntool.com

There are some great artists here who I'm sure will be able to help. P5woody, johnny5 and ttttuby just to name a few. I'd suggest sending a pm to see who can help.

Looking forward to see some of your ideas as they develop :)

BTW the dunes chip is a China clay chip. The Dunes around the edge isn't etched but actually part of the mold.

I did know that about the dunes chip. I like it but I wasn't sure if that could be done on a ceramic with my poker room name. I have been out of the game for since 2008 so I am not sure how things have changed with printing processes and such. Any direction on the cost of clays vs ceramic? I'm ipen to a clay with a designed inlay or hot stamp. Lucky lounge looks real nice! I have had custom ceramics before and I really liked them. Just so much easier to stack those clays and that sound.....doesn't get much better.

Thank you for your help!

Ceramic seem to be under $1 each from what I have read (some such as the Nine Dragons were around 70c each, so figure around a buck as a good estimate).

Clay chips are much more...prices are here: http://www.pokerchipsonline.com/pokerchips/realclay/pricelist.htm

Pick your mold, pick the inlay, pick the spot pattern and add up the price.

Not sure on hot stamping, but I don't see a lot of custom hot stamps being made right now.

You may want to look into buying blank chips and adding a custom label yourself. I am in the process of turning 400 Paulson THC chips into a custom micro cash set...... you get the best of both worlds....custom labels and casino quality chips :)

Igloo on the inlay may look kind of cool for the Ice house casino.

I also have to say that Quick Silver is great at design work.

Check the other members work within this same page as well. You can see what great sets are completed or a work in progress. Your decision of clay vs. ceramic might be dependent on your budget and how much you'd like to spend.

CPC is on the verge of offering hotstamps again (for new chip orders, not for previously made chips). Molds that work with hotstamps are slightly limited, and they are currently testing different foil colors and molds as production allows. Use the search feature to find the appropriate threads, and you may find yourself as one of the groundbreakers in the hotstamp revolution.

What's is cpc?

Classic Poker Chips. You may remember them as ASM. Since 2008, ASM changed hands when master chip artist JimB retired, moved to Las Vegas, and was nearly destroyed in an onslaught of poor customer service and substandard quality. ASM was then bought by DavidS, moved back to Maine and JimB came out of retirement to produce chips while David handled the business end of things.

Since Paulson, BCC, and TRK no longer make clay chips for the home market, CPC is the last clay chip manufacturer open to us.

I just heard Palm is looking on to producing clay chips again for the home market. That is unless they find a buyer for the equipment.

Holy smokes! A lot has happened since my "hiatus". I've always liked ASMs but that sucks all the other clay makers are removed from the home market. Why did they do that? Thanks for the background info. I imagine this jacked up the price for us avid chippers correct?

Chip prices are up, but CPC isn't pillaging our wallets with jacked up prices - we do a fine job of that all on our own. Others may be better versed than I in the history of chip makers, but if I understand TRK had lead, so no more of them, BCC was bought out and then those operations were shut down, and Paulson simply decided to stop making for the home market. Speculation was that home Paulsons were hurting their casino business.

The exact reasons didn't really matter to me. "Why" is irrelevant. Kind of like a girl saying no to sex. You can push for a reason, but the answer is still going to be no, and there is nothing I can personally do to change Paulson's mind.

Ok so I have some color scheme options for the set.

25/100/500/1k/5k

Thoughts? I have other options that I made as well. Maybe I will post them per denom. Thinking about the design for the inlay and I think I want to do some sort of a script writing that says Club Ice. Similar to Bellgaio. Open to suggestions on the inlay color.

CHP's look to be relabeled Paulsons, so just the label was his.

As for your color/spot combos... You said you like unique. Since I am all about traditional, I'm going to sit this one out. My eyeballs feel like they're being punked.

PZ- appreciate the honesty lol. Maybe take a step back
How about the color schemes? Not necessarily the design?

General question (but hopefully relevant to this thread):
I seem to recall one of the ceramic chip manufacturers was looking at etching onto their blank - a bit like a clay house mold. This would open up the possibility of a chip like the Dunes in OP but with own name on the outer edge. I seem to think it was either GameOn or Palm but I don't know how far they have progressed. Anyone know if these are available and has anyone got a sample?
There are also hybrid ceramic chips available which may be another option.

To be honest, I've never really looked into them which is why I asked if anyone knew whether the etching on the blanks was available (I have read about this here but it was a while ago).

A quick search of posts here (using 'hybrid ceramic') bought up a thread for a design by quicksilver-75 called 'Hybrid Ceramics Grand Cardroom mockups' and another called 'CPC ceramics' There may be more info on those threads.

Post #112 of the CPC General Discussion thread also mentions hybrids so I am now wondering if I read about it on a CPC thread somewhere

I also seem to remember jbutler mentioning that he was considering a ceramic set and may look at the hybrid blank.
Hope this helps
