Cleaning old ASM's (1 Viewer)

They aren't dirty, but they are stained! I'm probably doing this wrong, but after a few experiments I have decided I am going to clean them with Dawn and a good soak, then oil them. The really stained ones I have been hitting with a wire brush... In sure this is not good, but nothing else works that I can find. These were recently purchased from @Marius L

They will be fine, and they are not investments... They are for playing! Anyways, always open to suggestions. Here's some pics

Second pic shows two chips, the bottom one stained.

Third pic is same chip after wire brush.
 
On the one hand, you're cleaning hot stamps, and that's a very difficult thing to do, without damaging the hot stamps.
On the other hand, it looks like they're somebody's old monograms, and you probably don't care about those, so go ahead and keep erasing them with the wire brush.
