has anyone cleaned labeled China clays? My cousin has been using these chips every week for 4 years. They are getting sticky and funky.

Just wondering if a soak in soapy water/oxyclean would hurt them.

Factory-labeled china clays clean up fine in hot (not scalding) Oxyclean solution - stir for around 5-10 minutes, depending on filth level, light swipe with Magic Eraser if needed, then rinse well in plain water.

Dunno about aftermarket labels, though. Would depend a lot on the label substrate (if laminated) -- if vinyl, should be no problem. But I wouldn't soak chips with a paper-base label, laminated or not.

I don't use TSP on anything. At least not chips.

I wish there was a way to get the smell to dissipate. I still haven't used my dunes as smell is very strong. They've been sitting in racks in open air for months.
