Claim Stake 5s - How many are out there? (1 Viewer)

According to the chip guide the casino was opened and closed in 1979 so definitely during the leaded years. How leaded I have no idea.

I realize that, but is it definitely the leaded years? @BGinGA give us an uncertain late ‘70s timeframe. Chip guide isn’t always accurate. The chips were ordered and produced prior to the casino opening.
I definitely wouldn’t say definitely.

I was under the impression they are from everything I read about them here. Part of the reason it is the main target for my set.

Maybe the $5’s are leaded - I have no experience with them. Maybe the $25’s are leaded and just strangely light. I’m not sure, that’s why I’m asking.

I knew this existed somewhere. Found it here:

Not as light as I thought, at around nine and a half grams. So maybe leaded. I wish we had a swab test or something.

My understanding is that certain colors make a big difference in weight also. It’s all very confusing. When in doubt just ask @BGinGA.... Definitely
I think you’re right. I just weighed a random sampling of known (suspected) leaded chips. They were all in the 10+ to 11+ range. Until I got to greens. Some of the green clays are maybe just lighter.

This. Green is a super light color. All the leaded green beauties I’ve owned are on the lighter side. I’m assuming there are green exceptions but I haven’t seen it myself

I could be screwing this up, but white and blue tend to be heavy weights. I think red is a little on the lighter side too. @RocAFella1 knows. I think he’s come across some exceptions himself tho

I had a bunch of generic inlaid roulettes once, almost all in EX-NM condition. I'm quite sure they were all leaded. There was a fairly wide range in weight between the colours (basically between about 9.5-11.5g per chip). I wish I wrote it all down before I sold them.
