Good Morning,

This is my first post to this board.

I am in the process of acquiring a large batch of chips from another dealer. Many of these will be in box lot quantities. In pricing these to buy, I was curious where the market generally is for different types of chips.

It seems like the king of chips is small crown inlaid chips, followed closely by Paulson H+C chips. From this point, I get a little lost. Is there value in ChipCo's? Lg. Greek key chips? etc. If so, where is the market at for ChipCo chips in box lot quantities?

Thanks,

John

Is there value in ChipCo's? Lg. Greek key chips?
Yes and yes, but that value will depend on condition of the chips, casino vs. home chips, art on the Chipco's, hotstamp vs. inlaid on the LGK's, solid vs. spotted, breakdown of available chips, etc. Many, many variables to consider.

Again, it depends on many variables. Some people love Chipco Classics. Others can't be bothered with something that isn't a casino chip. Quantities, condition, design...it all comes into play.

I appreciate the information. There will be lots of Sonoma Joe's tournament and house chips. I expect the house chips to be used, and the tournament chips to be lightly used. Is$1 to $1.50 in the right range?

Valuation is tricky, but almost everything listed likely has a buyer here.

The chipcos likely aren't worth anything close to a buck each - just guessing, I'd say $0.50/chip? If you have the octagon chips, those will sell for more.
The hot stamped unicorn chips are of low value. I do not recall seeing such sold here. I wouldn't pay postage to get them for free. Maybe a dime each? Maybe not. Maybe there is a group that love unicorns?
The Paulson chips look to be only five dollar chips on the chip guide. They are worth more as a fully playable set. But even as fives only they likely are worth close to a buck - keeping in mind that the whimsy of the buyer can be really hard to figure out.

If the chips are physically cancelled, the value is greatly cut.

I didn't see any TRK or large key chips linked to Sonoma Joe's.

A bunch of pictures would help.

I don't have pictures of the Sonoma Joes and others yet. Should have them in a couple of weeks. They will mostly be ChipCo's. The TRK will be from California, and the Lg. Greek will be from Nevada. I will avoid the unicorn chips, and most other cheap hot stamps. I have one set of ChipCo's that I will dig out and post in a few minutes.

Thanks again.

John

IMO, old school unicorns are excellent chips for the price. I had a set of them once and they were heavy, grippy, and had a great sound for a plastic chip. At some point I think the formula was changed and the chips lightened, but those things were really impressive, sort of like a nicer version of faux clays.

I think these chips are pretty nice-looking Chipcos. I am a fan of ceramics, so I could see a set of these depending on condition. There are more Chipcos and unicorns on this site. http://www.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=CAPESJ

Welcome aboard and yes, you are correct.

Here is the only ceramic set that I have on hand:

They are old Bicycle Club Winnin' O' the Green tournament chips. The set contains the following chips:
60 - $5
155 - $25
155 - $100
60 - $500
60 - $1,000

I used it for small home tournaments in the past.

Thanks,

John

PAZ - I like your website. Lot's of information that I have previously not heard on there. Well done.

Those chips are wonderful. I didn't realize they were available in quantity.
