Chips that Go Missing (1 Viewer)

Unbelievable. After making this post a few days ago, I am now missing a single $1 Jack Detroit chip. See my WANTED listing in the classifieds if you have a few spares to sell.
I was just about to comment and ask how the f**k you haven’t lost a chip in 20 years.

I’ve had two go missing in the last year. With my new ones arriving soon I’ll make sure no one takes souvenirs. The sample set will work to ride them over if anyone wants to buy one.

I've been hosting for about ten years, and I've only lost a chip once. I loaned my CPS tourney set to one of my players so he could host a game, and it came back missing a single T100. I suspect that to this day, it's well hidden somewhere in his house.

When I first started playing with my Tuesday group, we had a married couple who would always pocket their chips during tourney breaks. As I became a bit more savvy, I started to suspect that they were trading and/or pocketing big chips. These were cheap eBay sluggos, so the only reason to do so would be to bring them back into future tournaments.

I started counting the chips after each game, and sure enough we had some T1000s disappear within a couple of weeks. We didn't have the evidence to make a direct accusation, but we notified the group that we were counting and knew that chips were going missing.

We never got the missing chips back, but it wasn't much longer before the couple stopped playing. The worst part is that this was a $10 tourney, so the financial motivation for cheating was ridiculously small.

I lost a single chip recently for the first time in 15 years of hosting. I just have Nexgen 8000s, so I’m not worked up about it. But the fact that I have 359 green chips has my OCD on tilt. I look for it every time I’m in that area of the house. Frustrating.

Yeah, at some point I need to replace that T100, because a rack with 99 chips tilts me every time I think about it.

I have missing LCO $1. A player took it home accidentally, told me he had it, and the next day told me his kid swiped it and then lost it. It's at his house somewhere, I hope it finds its way home, but I do have spares.

Around 15 years ago I spilled a rack of black Nexgens in my bedroom. I found all but one. Years later it fell out of the bottom of my dresser during a move. I never did figure out exactly where it had been hiding.

Another time, three of my custom quarters were missing when I racked up my chips after a game. After some intense but fruitless searching I sent an email to the players asking whether somebody might have absent-mindedly put them in a pocket. Sure enough, one of the players had them. I have no reason to think that it was intentional.

Finally, a couple of years ago, @Trihonda was missing three $5 Fat Tire custom chips after one of the MTTD meetups. I found them in my pocket, texted him immediately, and returned them the following morning. That was embarrassing!

I hope everyone's missing chips return home soon.

Thanks so much to Saoliver for sending me a $1 chip. I now have a complete barrel so have 620 one dollar chips instead of 619. Balance has been restored to the universe.

Now I feel bad about raising the prospect of theft.
That’s where my mind goes in about 0.2 seconds flat anytime something’s missing then about 2 seconds later I remind myself that 99% of the time I’m just being an idiot and forgot where I put whatever’s lost :D

Always, always, get spares! And to a lesser extent do counts/checks at the end of play.

I never suspected anyone in our regular group of theft. My mind went there because of the previous year and the presence of strangers.
That being said, I played on Saturday with the regulars. I accounted for all chips before they left . . . .

As I recall a few of @DrStrange's chips (or maybe it was @David O?) went missing at the Alamo Meetup a couple of years back. Everyone was scouring the space looking for them. When I left they had not been located. Not sure if they were ever found. :(

Still missing chips from the first All-In-At-The-Alamo. I found some inexpensive spares on eBay to fill in the racks for the most part. Thank goodness the missing chips weren't from someone's custom set and thus almost irreplaceable.

Wtf, the first time I get my complete rack of Ameristar $0.25s in play one goes missing! Argh..

Luckily @Jeevansluck gave me a couple extra (albeit casino worn), so not all is lost. Now the search begins!
Really Grant?!? One must have rolled off somewhere somehow. Geez, I triple checked my pockets.

I promise, I wasnt trying to harvest back my old chippies:sneaky:

It will be found, I'm sure of it

I have a couple micro black holes in my house that stuff disappears into only to fall back out later.
I had some reading glasses that disappeared from the den, only to reappear on the workbench in the garage after I went and bought a new pair.
