Picked these up for the $1/$2 cash game I play in. Didn't really need 1300 chips, but for $425... oh what the h*ll, why not?

We had been using my old CPC Eagle A-molds, but that set is short on $5 chips for $1/$2. No chance of that now with 600 of 'em :D

I was going to break it into 2 650 sets. The bad news is, the pair of allegedly "650 chip" cases I ordered off Amazon turned out to be 730 chip cases. :banghead:

So now I'm debating whether to bother sending the cases back & getting different ones or just fill one case & call it good.

I'd love to tell you.... problem is, they came that way so I have no idea..... sorry about that.

However, according to a post in the "Chip Maintenance" forum, cleaning ceramics is relatively easy. Standard warm water & soap works. You might try using Mr.Clean "Magic Eraser" if that doesn't work well enough.

Here's a link to that topic.... https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/ceramic-cleaning-first-time.56853/

Sweet deal, like ceramics

Truth be told, I kind of have a soft spot for 'em as well. Old ChipCo anyway. That's what Foxwoods used for years when ChipCo was alive & kickin'. Still kick myself for selling the set of original Classics I had years ago. So these have something of a "nostalgia factor" for me. The old ChipCo factory is 10 minutes down the road from here.

But, keep that just between you & me. I wouldn't want to upset the "clays are the only real poker chip" crowd. :D

Well I cleaned my set once a year. Played twice a week for a year and they looked fine until you compare chips with new ones. I use plastic bowl with mild detergent for washing dishes and warm water. Let them soak for 2-3 days, change water after first day. After that you need to wipe them, one by one.
It alway pissed me off how poker clubs let players play with filthy chips. It is not rocked science.

I like ceramics because they easy to clean and handle. There are no ultrasonic cleaners here. In Poland very few people know what clay chip is. I supplyed local clubs in Warsaw in cards. I told them what I have (Kem, Modiano, Cartamundi and Fournier) and what the difference is. You should see the looks. Try to find out what they want and all you get is a blank stare.

Maybe the method described in https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/recolor-your-chipcos.11318/ would work?

I have not used this method myself, so I have no idea how effective or risky it is.

Applying a clearcoat isn't something I'd want to try. Especially if paint spraying isn't something on your resume of experience.

However, the Rustoleum ReColor idea is definitely intriguing. Seems like its the same kind of thing that you can do with faded plastics, & I've used that kind of stuff before with some decent results. It takes those "faded to gray" plastic parts on cars, snowmobiles, ATVs, etc. back to black pretty well.

I'd give that one a try.

I played at that Casino in Aruba years ago, I have a few of those $1 chips. They had one table of NLHE, it was the loosest game I ever played in, with a huge rake, but I busted out with Aces vs AK when the dude hit a straight on the river. Yuuuuge pot!

Ouch.... well, you got it in well ahead... I'll take A-A vs A-K long term every time.

I've seen a few of the chips bouncing around on eBay & the like, but this was the 1st time I'd seen a set of any significant number. & for the price, I couldn't pass it up considering I was kind of in the market for a decent $1/$2 NL set.

The CPC set I have includes fracs & is better for 25c/50c or 50c/$1. & even then is a tad short on $5s & has too many $25s.

Hey My review is on there too. "Latches are iffy."
You know, given the reviews, I wonder if the 3 of us that gave less than stellar reviews have likely gotten 3 different cases.

The 1st one, from back in 2009, complains that each row holds 67-68 chips. Then there's yours from 2018. & now mine in 2020 & all 3 sound like we're describing different cases. :D

I'd have ordered a couple more of the 650 cases that I have my CPC set in. Only thing I don't care for about that one is that it has 10 rows that hold 62 chips each, then a couple extra 10 chip rows. Breaking denominations up into 10 rows of 62 each ends up looking goofy.
