Hello, so it has been a hope of mine for a little while to hopefully host a semi regular game of my own sometime so I can have a friendly and regular place to play poker as there really aren't that many options in my area right now... just a nice small one table game

The set up i'm thinking would be to have a SnG first followed by a small cash game afterwards (50 or 100 dollar buy in max) Just curious do you think this would be doable with say a 500 chip set? (For the SnG im imaging starting stacks of 5k.. with maybe one rebuy allowed I'm not sure)

How many players? Blinds for cash game?

With 500 chips you'll be pushing it unless you use one set for both games. Which is not ideal as you can run the risk of tournament chips showing up in your cash game and making the bank short.

For a single table SnG you could use (10 players. Could go less if you don't get 10 players but better safe than sorry)

20x1000

Each player gets 8/8/4/2 for 5000 with no extras. So I'd grab extras for color ups. If you have rebuys add more 1000 or some 5000(but it will be hard to make change at the table if you use the 5000)

So maybe
85x25
85x100
60x500
50x1000
20x5000

300 chips.

Extras incase lost or broken chips and enough for rebuts and color ups. (I'm sure someone else will come along with a better breakdown)

Leaves 200 chips for cash chips.

For one table S&G this is what I would order considering your details - T5000 with 10 total rebuys this is enough for full color up.

25 - 160
100 - 200
500 - 100
1000 - 50
5000 - 10
520 chips total

starting stacks
16 - 25s
16 - 100s
6 - 500s

38 chips per player

I would never use a tournament set for cash for the reasons stated about. My advice, get the chips. Save a bit more if the money is tight. I was at a game two nights ago and they ran out of chips.

For a cash game - this is what I'd get

1 - 150
5 - 150
25 - 40
100 - 40
500 chips

Imo it's a bit overkill 8 or even 12 25s is more than enough. Then you can the extras to the higher denoms or towards the cash set.

Cash game would probably be 25c-50c.. because the game would be small thinking no rebuy for sitngo (8-9 people would probably just need to get on with next game.) but i'm thinking more people would be more interested in cash game.
