Does anyone have any chip cases taking up room in their home that would be thrown away or donated anyway?

I think the issue will be that even if people offer me their cases for really cheap or even free, shipping may make the cost not that much cheaper than new cases from online merchants if they offer free shipping. But thought I’d ask anyway.

Just don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on new chip cases, and hoping to put back into use something that fell into disuse. :)

FYI, many cases will fit into a board game size flat rate box - the bad news is they're up over $20 to ship, now.

Thanks, I didn’t realize USPS had those!

But yeah, at that rate there’d have to be some generous PCFers (and there are plenty of you, this community’s been great to newbies) to have a case shipped be much cheaper than I can get w/free shipping from Amazon or for free local pickup at DiscountPokerShop.

(Wish I bought DPS’s Versa Deluxe 500 case for $40 before they bumped it up to $50 this week. 25% increase is not insignificant even with the 10% off Black Friday sale.)

You do know that most of us here at PCF use Apache cases from Harbor Freight?
I do and I looked at Harbor Freight and their (current) prices on the 4800 even w/20% off is still pretty high.

Also the Apache cases take up more room than I prefer but they are not out of consideration.

I mean I guess it's all relative. Even the full price is worth it to me when I've got literally several thousand dollars worth of chips in each case.

I do like having decks in my case but those tubes fit so perfectly.

If I’m gonna buy new I’ll probably still get this case. Was considering getting one Versa Deluxe 1000 case but I think 2x500 will be better for transporting (and my back). Plus the 1000 design irks me:

Why have dead space in those two spots? Why not have space for 4 decks or bigger/thicker dealer buttons? (I know you could put a dealer button or two there and they’d be held in place with the lid closed but still.)

I totally understand at your level of investment. I’m just dealing slugged Monaco Casino and cheap/used CC chips. Eventually if I get better chips I’ll probably go your route too.

For car trunk transportation, let alone for home storage, the Versa Deluxe reinforced aluminium cases are more than fine.
For airplane cargo holds, you would need a more "armoured" case, waterproof, dustproof, shock-proof, insulated.
So, Pelican, Nanuk, and the value-for-money relatives.

Weird I dunno why my screenshot of the 1000 replaced @Coyote’s image in the quote.

Yeah like a lot of decisions I’m making these days I’m either going cheap or decent-to-good. So if I can’t score some cheap cases then I’ll probably get the Versa Deluxe 500 which from everything I’ve read are excellent and would be appropriate for storing/transporting (by car) anything from cheap sluggo to NAGBs

One bump to see if anyone out there wants to get rid of a poker chip case for cheap/free. Or did people pick up a lot of new chips in the various sales going on and they need all the storage they have?
