So I want 5000 chips. And I'm cheap. So I wanted to see what Chinese ceramics were like.

I found this quote in another thread.

My ranking of current (and past) 39mm ceramic blank performance (per blank):
Chipco/GameOn > ABC/PGI > Sun-Fly/Nevada Jacks > Chinese > cheap Chinese

My ranking of current (and past) ceramic dye-sub print quality (per company):
GameOn/ABC > Sun-Fly/PGI > PGI/Nevada Jacks/Chipco > Chinese > cheap Chinese (PGI print quality varied quite a bit -- sometimes excellent, sometimes mediocre. Some Chipco-produced chips had serious ink bleeding issues with some colors, particularly reds).

Combining those two rankings, your best quality choices for 39mm ceramics are ABC-printed Chipco blanks and GameOn chips (and both come with hefty price tags), with ABC blanks and Sun-Fly offering great value for the money. I recommend avoiding all Chinese-produced options, as the print quality and chip durability/quality just aren't present with their offerings to date.

I would basically agree with both lists.

The first list is also a price ranking which is why I'm going for Chinese/Cheap Chinese.
Chipcos (not that they exist) were/are still expensive plus finding something existing that I like in quantities I want are gonna be impossible.
ABC are still $0.65 in quantity of 3000+
I'm not sure what SunFly PolyChroms are (I should ask @SUN-FLY Poker Chips )
So let's see what Chinese "Ceramics" are like since the quote I got for 5000 was $0.21 and $0.27.

Being insane I ordered about 150 of them because I wanted to see a variety of artwork.
Sizes included 39mm, 43mm, 48.5mm x 5.5mm, and 83.5mm x 52.5mm plaques.

Here's a small sample:

There was a few designs I specifically ordered like the "Venerati" (which obviously is a cheap ripoff), The "suits" (again a ripoff), the US Dollar (which I've personally never seen but it may exist).

Here's the plauqes:

Interesting Edge alignment....

Faces look fine though. The edges look a little weird as noticed here:

Here's all the dealer buttons. I laughed at the Trump one.

Edge spots for the dealer buttons. These are much nicer than the plaque:

Here's the Veneratis. Notice the later colors are wrong compared to the originals. The texture is wrong too obviously but we'll get to that.

Here's the 43mm. Edge alignment is better here.

I found one odd chip in the entire lot.

You can really see the difference here.

Apparently they have a "matte" and "smooth" option. $0.21USD for the matte and $0.27USD for smooth.

Here's a comparison between the matte/smooth and the Venerati and "Venerati" and one of Side Pots customs

I attached a file at the bottom but I have no idea how or how to remove it.

Something I wasn't expecting was that these are identical to scrolls.

So this didn't really answer any questions for me since I'm not a fan of the Scroll's texture.

The smooths however are interesting. I'm a little sad in terms of the upcharge for them, but they're "close" to what Chipcos feel like but not really.
They're too smooth. Chipcos have like a "satiny" finish where this feels polished.

So now I have to order a whole new sample set of smooths just to see how they look.

While I'm here, I'm kind of considering ordering a sample set from @ABC Gifts and Awards just to see how they look and see if they're worth twice the price (as in, I'm cheap. Do I want to pay twice the price for higher quality not "OMG twice the price! RIP!" because they are clearly (heh) better)

I also just bought @BirdCage's listing for samples too because I wanted to see what Chinese Clays look like too just because.

At the end of the day despite spending probably another $200 on more samples I'm currently leaning towards the Chinese "smooth" solely due to price.
Artwork clarity/color etc is important(ish) but the main factor for me currently is price. At half the price it's seriously tempting to go for Chinese.
But I'm not kicking them out of the running yet.

I actually bought a ridiculous number of samples and rock tumbler specifically for this purpose.
Since I'm paying nearly 1/4 of what "real" chips would be, I want to see how they wear.

I'm still waiting on a few more samples then I'm gonna toss a bunch in there to see what happens to them after "years of use"
This won't really test the face wear but I can't imagine that playing a home game is going to do much to even cheap ceramics. We're not using them day in and day out like a casino would. But this will test rough handling and edge wear.

I'd recommend you buy from Gene @ABC Gifts and Awards , however I'm very curious where you get those 0.21/0.27 from? Are they shipping directly from China or you get those from USA/CAN manufacturers?

That's what I was quoted based off 5000 units direct from China plus shipping.
Shipping works out to about $0.10ishUSD on top.

I saw your other thread in your own forum and will contact your Dan? (sales6) because I was thinking of ordering a large number of samples for redistribution myself. There's a "travel set" going around but it's US only. I might start a set (or just sell samples directly) and amortize the cost of the high shipping from HK into each chip itself, but that's a topic for later.

Hi I’m curious to know how flat those chips are. When you stack them up do any of them spin? I assume the texture is something like a fabric grid.

This is interesting, could you please give me these supplier's website or their contact information?

Currently Dan is not working on this project, you may directly contact our sales Susie (susie.su@sun-fly.com), or PM me your email then I'll ask her to contact you.

Surprisingly. Apparently these types of chips are notorious for spinning.
I stacked up a bunch of them and only a portion of them spun.

I assume the texture is something like a fabric grid.
Yeah kinda.
If you've ever touched a scroll you've touched these.
Except for the one smooth 39mm and the plaques.
Those I have no (real) basis of comparison except to blasphemously say that they kinda sorta maybe when drunk feel like Chipcos.
They don't actually since they feel "off" but out of the few other "ceramic" I've tried, the non "fabric" ones feel "unique".
And yes I do realize that's a lot of quotes. I have no better way to describe them.

Dan sent me onto Susie but I haven't finished drafting a reply to her yet.
I want to make sure I get all the chips you produce because I want a sample of everything but there's quite a few more SKUs that I thought there would be since you have matte and smoooth and 19 different sizes of chips.

Try contacting @Marhault -- he recently ran a group buy here for Scrub Donkey chips and used the same (or similar) Chinese supplier (with similar chip costs).
I'm not sure who he used, but the chip textures look pretty close.
His are actually cheaper (but he's also buying 35000 chips).

Well, that's a deal-breaker for me. And most others here, I'd guess.

I don't suppose you have an example of what you (and others) would consider a deal breaking spin.
Giving these a spin, there's maybe 2/50 that go more than like a half revolution before stopping. The rest of them grip each other pretty well.
This is comparison to the metal slugged chips that could double as a fidget spinner which I would also consider a deal breaker. But I don't know what the break point is for PCF in general since I'm still pretty new around here.

Thank you for providing me the information.

Well, from my point of view, as long as these suppliers/traders stop copying our or others designs, we are happy to compete with them. IP laws are not fully covered in China, situation here is more complicated compare to US. Sometimes there's nothing we can do about them however we do respect the intellectual property rights, none of our stock designs are stolen from elsewhere. And we also do not support the copying orders, in fact, not long ago, someone wants us to produce a set of @HMK 's design, we asked this buyer to contact him for permission, without his permission, we won't take the order to production.

With that being said, I'm not trying to undermine these suppliers or traders, and you are totally free to choose them if you think they are more suitable in your case.

Damn, didn't see that comming, haha. Wow. Well, i'm happy you didn't let that person duplicate my chips. If somebody reached out to me that's another thing, but i can't see why somebody would want my initials on their chips even with the dual meaning that it's also short for his majesty the King...

All you guys at @SUN-FLY Poker Chips run such a great company. I can't speak enough good about my transactions with sun-fly. Very polite, friendly and fast responses to e-mails and the chips are awesome! I rate you guys 10 out of 10!

I'm all for getting a deal, but frankly, fuck the Chinese and their counterfeit knockoff thievery bullshit.
Edit: uh, just to clarify, nothing against any individuals Chinese person. I’m referring to the way the nation of China allows counterfeits and knockoffs if anything and everything to be produced.

I have zero tolerance for spinners. If a company is shipping defective product, then either their manufacturing process or their QA control (or both) is lacking.

I'm still fairly new around here. What did they steal?
Obviously the Veneratis are stolen (poorly I might add) but is there something of yours specifically they stole?

Honestly though integrity is a good thing.
If I had a cash set I wouldn't want someone going to a random company in China and them agreeing to counterfeit them.
