Hello all. Ari here. I found the site because have been learning more about the world of chips and although will be sacralige to many of you, I hadn’t realized how lucky I have been to have a really unique set of Paulson chips that I briefly used in house games until I better understood their worth and switched to a lower quality set that I actually got at goodwill for nearly nothing.

When I bought the chips idk around 2005 or so, I was working with guys very into poker and chips and one of them found a seller on eBay who had a monster amount of chips and was willing and happy to sell in one big lot. So two of my friends ran the deal but I said why not and took a third of the chips which were Vineyard $1, $5, $20 and the oversized georgeous hundreds.

The worst part was that I didn’t like the $20’s despite their coloring which is stunning because I like to play Craps and taught all my daughters how to play bc enough with candy land and chutes and ladders right? And to deal craps well you really need the $25 denomination. So I sold a rack of the black $25 for what now seems like nothing given I never see them available and for the same money I bought idk maybe 500 or so brand new in the box $25 casino de isthmus James Bond chips. It mismatched the set sort of but for me it made it much better.

So now years later I have acquired so many ‘cool’ things that my (second) wife is convinced I belong on hoarders and given I rarely play much she cant fathom why I need several thousand chips between my Paulson and the knock offs we do use once in awhile.

So have been causally looking at the blogs and auctions and spoke to a couple dealers who blew me off but figured I’d say hi instead of continuing to lurk as I’m at a point where I’ll prob be selling them and I’d love to find them a happy home and not piecemeal them on eBay ten chips at a time.

So obviously not quite ready to sell but just trying to both learn and also get advice on the best way to sell them in the end. I would think a Paulson set despite the mismatch would be best but idk. I’m not going to be trying to be a pig but def have short term financial needs more important than incredible pieces of clay on a nice box!!

Would love feedback on any part of above such as the mismatch and also the quality I didn’t mention. The $1 and $5’a are ok. Thw 1$’s def circulated the $5’s barely. The $100’s and sharp sharp mint and the $25 bond are so sharp they cut your hand. Here too idk if a buyer would only want same quality Ect.

So anyways hi to all and look forward to advice from u chip pro’s!!

Ozzy oh sorry Ari!

Hello and welcome!

You may decide to offer your chips in whichever way you want. If they have mass appeal and you want to move everything in one go, then probably an auction would give you the true market value (at least among PCF'ers).

Sometimes mixed sets don't go as one group. You might want to pick a reasonable price and list the chips in matched lots with separate prices. You may get asked for splits or combinations when doing it this way, and only you can decide if the offers you get are reasonable.

I would browse some of the Classifieds here just to see if there is something similar being offered, and at what price. You can get a good idea of the historical record by browsing the "Sold" items as well, especially for well known chips like your CDI $25s.

Good luck!

I love Paulson Vineyards...but you will get a mixed audience. Mint chips definitely sell for more, but used ones are still pretty desired. With the Vineyards, if they are used, you would have to post pictures because they come used like just fleabites or bicycle tires....all depends.

No one here will try to cheat you out of what they are worth since we're all used to paying a premium for chips. With that in mind, there is tons of accountability since most people know what these classics go for
Post some pictures with quantities and im sure everyone will give their opinion of what they should sell for, and you'll know its accurate since they will all be aroud teh same price. And people will PM you with offers. probably me
