CHEATING AT 2015 WSOP (1 Viewer)

I would love it if this resulted in a ban of all sunglasses (sorry Helmuth) and possibly an inspection of contact lens from players who cash. No more Unabombers too. Let real players get reads on eyes.

I think banning sunglasses would just switch those cheaters to contacts, and how can you tell someone is wearing contacts? Sounds like a logistical nightmare to police given the large fields WSOP events see. What's next, body cavity searches for hidden Ace of spades up peoples bums just to be sure?

Point me to the line Kara Scott is in!!!!

If you cash well, it would be very easy to ask a player to remove the lens for inspection. Contacts are far from hard to see.

...and the Exit Only Lounge already permabanned sunglasses on opening day. :)

I think it's a dangerous can of worms, guilty until proven innocent? Slippery slope there, not likely to be taken well by the vast majority of people attending these events, AND it brings more attention to cheating which is something the hosts of these events aren't likely to want to do either.

the most important post in that 2+2 thread is the one acknowledging that it's basically happenstance that he got caught due to the fact that two of his opponents were close enough friends that they felt comfortable talking in detail about their matches and how, had that not been the case, the players he bested would likely have chocked it up to just getting owned or unlucky and not looked further at what was really going on. my point is that this kind of shit is going on all the time and is rarely caught.

What do you think should be changed to combat this?

cheaters gonna cheat.

I was thinking about this the other day, with the ease of obtaining glasses/contacts and ink, or marked decks, at what point do cards disappear and video displays are the only thing used. I know, it would be easy to make a program that cheated too, so you would still have to have some way of ensuring the randomness, perhaps a physical deck that is auto shuffled, random cut, and then the cards "scanned" as they are being dealt to the players, ensuring the casino/house would not have an edge, nor would the players. Kinda like the pai gow readers where they know the hand you are dealt. Suspicious of this, but not enough to not play...yet.

Of course, then someone would hack into the scanner and read the cards that the other players are receiving, so back to square one.

cheaters gonna cheat.

It sucks, and unfortunately it is a reality that scumbags are gonna take money from you because you try and trust your fellow man. All I can offer as defense is to have home games for low stakes where it is not worth cheating, only play with friends, or know you are going to be cheated against at some point and just be vigilant.

Or, join me at pai gow and video poker when not at a friendly home game / low stakes.

Shouldn't be allowed to wear sunglasses. You can bet if this took money from the casinos, they would have been banned a long time ago!

What about contacts?

In this day and age where we can scan pretty much anything, I am sure it wouldn't be a problem to develop a light that can scan peoples eyes before playing these big tournaments

this will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever happen.

No , it won't, but if the casinos were the ones losing the money, it would!

they are losing money, but not much. the players they can't afford to lose aren't the ones who care at all about this sort of thing - they just want to gamble and don't care if they're taking the worst of it.
