i just snagged this off eBay. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to perform some serious rehab work on it, but looking forward to having some good storage for sets.

Thanks @bentax1978 for putting your hips into it!

Sorry for crappy eBay pic, but it's all I can manage on phone at the moment.

Looks really good! I just hope it has ball bearing slides and beefy drawer bottoms. Chips are heavy.

Definitely no ball bearings! I'm already looking into reinforcing the individual drawers. The frame is what has to hold collective weight and it is plenty thick.

Beauty.

A map file cabinet happened to walk out of my company and land in my basement so I plan on doing something similar. Large but shallow drawers just high enough for chip racks.

Wonder if Ikea has the materials to make something liek this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50264927/ a decent buy for holding chips. I know their quality on a lot of things sucks, and not sure if this can sustain the weight of chips, but would be curious if anyone had any insight on it

Ikea drawer bottoms are usually something like 4mm hardboard. I'd want at least 1/4" ply for chips, preferably 3/8"+. They also have wood on wood slides, which like to bind up with a lot of weight.

@bivey if the drawers are hard to slide, you might try some Johnson's paste wax. It's nice for keeping things from rusting too.

I will keep you posted on this.

Drawers holding up really well. I am only filling them 2/3 of the way back to avoid having to pull the drawers all the way out, but I did conform that I can without instability issues. I have to say that drawers like these (similar to leonard, courage, others) really speeds up play and organization. Highly recommend!

Did you make yours? Looks like the top has an antique look.
