Here are a few more:

Paul-Son
Ben & Jerry's
Baskin-Robbins
Bausch & Lomb
Wrigley Co.
Gillette
Nestlé
Hershey
Cadbury
McDonald's
Tupperware Brands
Tiffany & Co.
Swarovski
McAfee
Kohl's
Harley Davidson (mentioned in an earlier post)
Kellog
Bose
Bacardi
Colgate-Palmolive

Although I understand why you want to change the name, speaking personally, I love the name Chanman and associate it with quality custom gaming products.

I understand the incentive to re-brand, but am on the side of keeping the chanman logo and name in place, maybe tweaking it to chanman gaming supplies.

It would appear that the vast majority are in favor of keeping the Chanman name/brand. Which I totally understand and which is why I haven't done it yet and was looking for feedback and boy am I glad I did. I'm going to consider all options and see where it takes me.

One of my thoughts on rebranding was actually the use of the word Chanman. Many time I've felt that it's a bit unprofessional. If I had name the company Chan Poker Table I would have less issues. The name's a bit silly.

Agreed BG,

How's this one?

This one looks good, it would work well as a businss card chip. As a logo though it's too much text but that's easily remedied. I like that you threw in "& rentals". Rentals is a bigger part of my business than the accessories like custom cloths and chip trays.

And if you do re-brand - you're allowed to, and I'll respect that - consider keeping the name ChanMan, but producing under a CM-based trademark.

Something like - CMT - ChanMan Tables.

CMT
Tables & Gaming Supplies
The Original Chanman Table
This lets you formalize the CMT name for your company, while preserving a very positive legacy.

Whichever way you go - best of luck!

I've thought of going with CPT to abbreviate but it sounds too much like Chanman Poker Tour and Canandian Poker Tour. CMT is along the same lines and wouldn't it then be Chanman Tables Tables & gaming supplies?

I was thinking of CMT as the abbreviation for the name, "Chanman Tables," and "Tables & Gaming Supplies" as a subtitle. But now, I'd go with:

CMT
Tables, Gaming Supplies, & Rentals
The Original Chanman Table

I can understand this feeling, but I'd add that in poker, there is a tradition of nicknames. It could be worse; you could have gotten Doyle Brunson's nickname.

Just a casual observer. I've followed the evolution of Chanman since he started posting on the sites. I guess because I've been seeing this for a while it's a natural thought: "You want a table or a cloth - you go to Chanman". Telling someone to check out CMT, seems like just another supplier. IMO Chanman is pretty unforgettable. Admitted, I've been acclimated to the word Chanman and the reputation it represents. A new customer who's never seen it may think "CMT, Chanman, no big deal - he's got what I want".
I'd still stay with Chanman. What did another post say? It's poetic? Yeah.

We aren't shy about voicing our opinions, are we? ;)

BTW, I don't think Chanman is the least bit silly.

My additional 2 cents:

CMT - Country Music Television

ASM - Atlantic Standard Molding

You do realize this is a gaming chip forum, right Mental? Pretty sure Larry's reference was tongue-in-cheek. Surprised nobody mentioned that I left out C&J, B&G, TRK, BCC, and GPI. :)

You're certainly right... but you put IBM, ASM, and BASF in the same list, so I didn't even notice AFTER Larry's comment!

I've actually put BASF floppies into an IBM machine with ASM parts inside...

I agree with the above. Ive never bought anything from you, but I plan to at some point in the future, and the only "brand" I know right now is Chanman. I could list dozens of 3 letter initials that might be able to fulfill my order, but have no brand recognition.

I would also add that it depends on what kind of customer you are trying to attract. If your real customer is the Individual that is looking for a custom table then I think Chanman is far superior than an generic initial. If you are catering to the casino/poker room market, then maybe a more official business name is the way to go. That said, there is nothing wrong with doing both. One Brand can cater to a particular following, while the other caters to a more serious niche....all under the same corporate entity.

Last thing I will say, generally company's look to rebrand when something is wrong. Im not sure that is the case here? Unless your sales are stagnant/dipping, then do you really see an ROI in changing names? It seems like you are building momentum...Just keep putting out good product and the brand will build itself.

I have no idea where this is going but I was bored and was playing around with an idea. Figured I might as well post them.

"Tongue-in-cheek"? Moi?

My favorite was moving to Columbia, SC, decades ago and noticing a tall building atop which were three huge illuminated letters -- "FBI".

I wondered why that federal agency had such an obvious and sizable presence, only to later discover it was the corporate home of the Farm Bureau, Incorporated.

I drove by a place called "C. R. Fannie's" for about twelve years before I realized it was a strip club.

P5Woody's bottom right. It might start a slow rebranding if you choose to in the future, but keeps the Chanman intact.

I really like the direction of p5woody's logo with the C looking like water & the M the mountains... Stay on that track... CM could stand for Custom Made... Just sayin... I truly believe sticking with ChanMan is the way to go. I think of poker when I hear the name Chan, and I grew up in the lower mainland... You have the right to use a classic poker legend name. Don't give that up.

I'll add my vote to the Chanman camp for the same reasons so many others have mentioned. There is an alphabet soup of companies using initials.

I remember first encountering you back on scottkeen (during my short stint as admin following the mass exodus.) Your presence there and on other poker forums since has built a reputation over time.

Just keep in mind the personal aspect you connect with in name isn't what the public feels. We just know 'chanman' and connect it to 'poker tables' rather than you or your name. Unless there is some other underlying reason to change it I would stay with it. It's a catchy name and well known.

I think I've been swayed by the overwhelming feedback to keep Chanman. I am however going to change up my logo. I appreciate the contributions for logo ideas, I think my favorite is from p5

This one, but I wish the top of the blue C had a bit more of a hook in it to make it look more like a C.

I'm also not sure if I'd want both the website name and email address on it.
