Not new to poker but new to chips and PCF. Lots of good info on here. First post.

I ran up on a table and 775 Nevada Skulls about a month ago. I decided to purchase a few more racks of $500 and a rack of $5000 to complete the set for a 20 person tournament set.

After receiving the apparently brand new chips from ABC I noticed the new chips are not nearly as slick when rubbing across each other as the used ones I have. The used ones are so slick you drop them often; which is my least favorite trait.

Would cleaning help this or just the difference between new/used? What type of cleaning is required?

Thanks in advance.

You can try to just clean them in warm soapy water and see what happens but it is very possible that if the chips were used often they might have actually wore down. I know some of my older chipcos are more slippery than more mint ones. I always just assumed they wore down.

The old nevada jacks were notoriously slick and even had spinners from the blanks not being flat. I would think newer ones purchased from ABC would be on their house blank which is miles better and are flat/stack like bricks.

There are so many chinese counterfeit versions of the NJ Skulls.
Can you post some photos of your chips (incl. the rolling edges) ?

The 5’s, 25’s, 100’s, and 1000’s are used and appear dirty. The 500’s and 5000’s are new from ABC Supply.

@Forever to Thee from the pictures, your chips look legit. I just noticed that the texture is more visible on some of the chips (ex: the 1000) compared to the newer ones (5000).

I think it’s better to ask advice to @ABC Gifts and Awards or @BR Pro Poker to know if under (normal, non casino) use, chips can get worn and become slick.
