If anybody is near St. Albert and would be willing to check it out, I’m looking for a rack of this chip from Century Casino:

Given that it’s a frac I’d assume they’re pretty hard to harvest, so my initial offer would be $150 for a rack of them, but I might be able to accommodate a higher price if needed. Also, if anyone’s been there before and knows if they’re weighted or unweighted, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Greg

All Bud Jones S2's are weighted with a brass slug. I am not saying this as good or bad it just is. I don't recall the exact weight, but probably slightly heavier than most Compression molded chips.

Opinions will vary, but mine is that BJ S2's are really nice. Most people won't like the way they feel as much as Paulsons, but they wear very well and stack much better than used Paulson's

No, they’re not all weighted with a brass slug. Big Easies, the set I would be using these as a relabel for, are the unweighted ~8g version. I have some hope that these are unweighted because fracs would probably be made with the cheapest option, and in my experience injection-molded plastics companies sell lower-weight chips for slightly less.

While it is true that not all Bud Jones chips are weighted with a brass slug, I believe that all S2's are. Maybe I'll do a little research, but if memory serves the unweighted ones have a different name

I’m 100% confident that some S2s are unweighted, because I have a set of 1000 unweighted S2s!

This is close to my city (Edmonton). But I've never actually been there. Casinos in the area finally reopened last week.

They no longer have a poker room. Only have table games. I'm not familiar with any table games so not sure if it would be difficult for someone to harvest.

There are both weighted and unweighted S2s. I have sets of both. They’re both awesome (I know, blasphemy).

You are probably right, idk. I have had several different sets and they were all weighted with brass slugs. I probably just haven't had the unweighted ones.....

Ahh, the memories. I used to spend time there way back in the day when it was the old St. Albert Casino - it was a dump!

It got taken over by Century Casinos and renovated a while back and I usually pop in there with some friends for some blackjack when I'm home visiting my parents, who live pretty close in NW Edmonton. It's a small casino, with maybe only 12-15 tables.

Hopefully a local can help you out, but worst case, I'm happy to look for you in December when I finally go back home for a visit.

Big Easy and Caesars at Sea are 2 sets that I have. Both unweighted.
lol I actually have 2 sample sets of Caesars at Sea that I had forgotten about. Looking at the BJ mold patterns I don't see the exact pattern in the S2's that the Caesars at Sea uses so I just assumed it was one of the other variations that Bud Jones makes. I am no expert on the topic so I could certainly be wrong. Here are a couple pics of Canterbury Card Club $1's that I am sure are BJ S2's and you can see how easily I can slide a utility knife under the label revealing the brass slug. These chips are just under 11g about 10.9g or so. The Caesars at Sea are around 8g. I am not going to take up the labels on my Caesars at Sea as I don't have access to more of them, but I would suspect as you say they are not slugged.

I’ve murdered a few barrels of Big Easies, they don’t have any slug under the label. There’s a BJ Resource in the Resource section which has all of the S2 mold designs and chip types if you’re ever unsure. It also has the weights which show the unslugged option for S2s (and other chip types).

Yep, Canterbury chips are weighted. I actually use them in a S2 set I have. I was going to relabel, but haven’t got around to do it.

And my unweighted Big Easy:

If you are after yellow chips the Canterbury $2s are nice, and since it is a poker room someone could just buy them for you without needing to spend time harvesting.

The Canterbury chips are weighted. He’s looking for unweighted to go with a Big Easy set, I believe.

They are nice, but they are weighted. Personally I prefer the weighted ones, but that is just me and I could be biased as I play with them so frequently. I play there regularly and as I have mentioned before on other threads here I would get anyone that wants some for cost + a small nominal fee. I am not a big fan on paying or charging a big markup on live chips like so many here do, especially when the place has a card room. I still have no idea why people pay what they do for others to harvest live chips as it is not difficult at all for someone that plays regularly anyway.

True...
Here is the yellow $2. They have been in circulation for 20 yrs, but they have recently bought a large re-supply and roughly 10-20% of the chips are nice bright white inlay/sticker and super clean. Some chips are cracked or have faded stickers and such. If I wanted to do a re-label with these I would want to sort for the nice ones. Like I said above, even if you sort them it is a no brainer and basically takes no additional time as you are there anyway if you are a reg.
