Casino Royale tribute idea that I've been kicking around.... (1 Viewer)

So I ended up printing that last design scaled down to a 7/8" diameter, and overall it works pretty well for legibility.

I've decided against the baroque flourishes.
There's some space to the left and right of the hotel façade graphic - should it be filled in with anything? Maybe a fleur-de-lys on either side?
(I tried moving the "SB" and "MR" to the left and right sides, respectively, but it ended up looking very disjointed so I'm keeping it where it is.)

Only just seen these. Those looking pretty damn cool, love the font too.

Don't love the SB Mr bit though. That's my only gripe

I tried to be as subtle as possible. The designation on the chips in Monaco are much more in-your-face than these initials.
I suppose I could use a much simpler font so that it is distinct from the other text, so I could use a smaller font size yet still be readable. Kinda like the BJ or BG initials on some chips.

Promising project. Sometimes fictional locations anchored in film or literature are more interesting to me than just fictional locations.

A couple of details: It seems like the l in "les" is capitalized as it is taller than the small caps. I think the correct spelling is "Royale-les-Eaux". Maybe a smaller space between thousands and hundreds would look better.

Of course, you are correct, the "L" should be lower case. I will play around with the denom spacing, especially if it allows me to go slightly bigger on font size.

Much better with reduced initials. Comma is used as a decimal separator on the continent, so a thin space as a thousands separator would be more realistic to the illusion of a French casino.

Been a while since I updated this thread. Mocked up some colours and edge spots from the design tool, all level 3. Might be able to consider level 4 for one chip.

All I know for sure is that the Green 5K chip has to have a spot pattern of 3, the Pink 25K chip a pattern of 4, and the Black 100K chip a pattern of 6. For this initial series, I went with 2 unweighted spot colours for 5K (since the spots are smaller), and 1 unweighted spot colour for the 25K and 100K.

As always, comments and critiques are welcome.

I like it all, except I worry bout dg tiger as a spot on pink (at least on the mockup tool anyway). I'd be interested to see what the look like together on samples.

Yes, for sure I will get an updated colour sample set (or maybe borrow one from a local member) when I'm somewhat closer to the ordering stage. Still a ways to go yet, with competing projects and all. I'm also kinda assuming that the unweighted Pink is probably darker than what's on the design tool on the monitor, which may enhance the contrast a bit with the DG Tiger.

Coming back to revisit this after a couple of months. Does anybody think I should try to make the building graphic bigger/wider so it take most of the width of the inlay?

I love the black base, Also the DG Yellow will pop brighter in person, great combo with the light blue.

What tool are you using to drop images in?

Good old Microsoft PowerPoint. Primitive, I know. I would be using Illustrator but I'm too lazy to hunt for a free version. Besides, I'll need a little bit of help from one of our forum designers to do the final graphics clean up. The point of this thread was really to get the basic ideas and positions together.

Looking forward to seeing the final design.

My earlier iterations before I settled on a different style for the 2015 set.

not sure how I missed this post @Phantom your amazing chips are why I am on PCF!!

I was internet searching for the 08 series Casino Royale Slugged chips, these and 05 CDIs kept popping up.... I was mesmerized. The most amazing thing I had ever seen!! being a huge Bond fan as well. I was then bumbed out to find out these were customs and that owning a set was never going to happen!!

I have managed to find a sample set, one of the 2 million plaques and the beautiful dealer button!

Just wanted to say fantastic job sir!! I have herd there may be a set of them still in the states, hope some day to get a chance to play them!!

Really like where you are going with the inlay, the color choices for the chips and the progression. Not sure the chips would be my ideal, but could very easily see asking for the ability to print labels and be in on buying plaques.

For the plaques, I wonder if you need the big block of color behind the building or if something smaller would be better in its place.

The $10MM breakdown seems insane, but then again, what isn't about the source material. With a $10MM starting stack you are looking at what, $10k/$20k blinds to start and everyone has 450 BBs? Staying true to the movie with 150MM really puts it into a bind.

The setup in the movie was 5k/10k starting blinds for 1000BB. Optional 5MM single rebuy. From what I can remember, rebuy was exercised 3 times (once by Bond using Leiter's money).

The white part on the plaque will actually filled with colour, think of it as being transparent. Silver on Red for the 500K, Gold on Blue for the 1MM. Standard crystal pattern. Might add some flourishes, but not if it prevents the plaques from being serialized. Could consider a separate oval for the building facade.

okay, and I thought as much, sounds nice.

yeah... see... this is just nuts.

Also, if i remember correctly from the movie isn't it 'winner take all'? the whole thing is just bonkers.

Gimmie!

Thanks for the kind words mate. It was a really fun set to do, but alas, it also coincided with my crew (and me I guess) wanting to focus on cash games, soooo ... :)

Here is a link to the pron thread if you haven't seen it - https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/phantoms-official-casino-royale-pron-thread.12590/

Thanks again, and now back to our regular programming @allforcharity . Good luck with your set mate.
