I am heading to the Mediterranean next month and one of our stops will be in Monaco, so we'll be checking out the Casino de Monte-Carlo.

What are some of the do's & dont's?
This place seems pretty uptight but can I expect to get some chips or plaques, or whatever it is they use, out of there?
I don't even know what they use, are there any items more sought after than others?

Any feedback from anyone who has been there and/or has any experience would be greatly appreciated.

I hear card counting is frowned upon ;)

Seriously though this sounds amazing...please update with pics and stories!

I watched an interview with Isaac Haxton "Ike" the poker pro. He said people were pretty unfriendly and had disdain for Americans being there....not sure how much truth there is to that but just his experience...could have been cuz he was a rich young kid tho.

Very Disappointing and very underwhelming.

You are allowed free entry to the "slot" room, which has about 15 slot machines.
You must have your passport and pay a 17 euro cover charge to get in the table games room. Inside that room there were about 12 people, about 8 tables and another dozen or so slot machines.

I pulled my camera out to take a pic and immediately someone came over and said I could not take a pic. They made me open my photo album and show them that I did not actually take a pic.
$25 min table game bets. Not excitement, no noise, very sterile and boring.

I was hoping this stop would be a highlight, but instead it was a disappointment.
The outside was actually the coolest part.

What were those 12 people doing? Trying to figure out where/how to get 17 euros of value?

Outside of the place looks marvelous. Sorry to hear of the disappointment once inside.

sorry it sucked but thanks for the update. I will give it a miss and just hit vegas.

Sounds like most UK chain casinos... no atmosphere, take themselves too seriously. What's the Vegas rule on photographs?

You can take photos freely in Vegas. They get a bit excited at table games if you have your phone out but other than that its pretty wide open.
I read that Monte Carlo doesn't allow any photos in order to maintain its Mystique.
