As many of you know there’s the upcoming show in June at the South Point. I was kicking around the idea of checking it out. I was just wondering if it was worth going to. Is it like walking into a gigantic Spinetti’s ?!

I’d sure like to hear from anyone that’s gone to one of these before.

I went last year and it was pretty cool. More for singles collecting but I was able to add a few chips to my playable sets. Spinetti’s has a table there as well. I would say it’s like a swap meet equivalent of Spinetti’s.

Thanks. I was wondering if it was more single chips. Was hoping maybe there would be some small somewhat rare sets that you typically don’t see.

There was a few small sets, but they were priced more like singles prices so I ended up not buying one of the sets I was interested in. You never know though, the collectors may have something you want, that's part of the thrill of it for me personally.

Just wanted to throw it in here for people to see, but yes, the CCA is pretty cool, this will be my 3rd year in a row attending.
I never see sets, but singles galore.

If you're on the fence, it's worth at least 1 visit for anyone on PCF.....
Same thing I say to poker fans about going to the WSOP, you should do it at least once in your life.

I have been to 15+ of them. It can be lots of fun. I don’t bring sets with me, as the buyers and sellers are more into singles.

I want to go. Can't this year. If somebody is willing, I'll send a small list of affordable chips I'm looking for. We're talking less than 20 or so chips.

Its a Great Show and well worth visiting at least once!! You never know what might walk in the door too! I usually have singles but have brought sets from time to time when i can get them and they sold very quickly! Its on June 20th to 22nd, with Free Admission on Saturday the 22nd!! I always enjoy going and meeting up with PCF’ers.
Like others have said, not many (if any) sets but you can find some great people and chips!

I can understand how sellers don't necessarily want to hump sets around for shows if people are mostly looking for singles or sample sets. But do many of them have playable sets to sell that they bring pictures of, at least? Or at least spreadsheets of chips that they might have in barrel or rack quantities?

Good question. Something I’d be interested in knowing.

Most of the dealers there look at you funny when you say you are a playable set collector. Got several of “oh, your one of those” while I was there. But sometimes you may get lucky. I have made friends with a few dealer who know to call me when they come across sets.

Go to be in Vegas, see great chips and meet up with some of us PFC’ers who attend. You may find many dupes of even a barrel here or there. I did buy a set of Mesquite Stars once... For someone else.

I look forward to it every year now.
