What happens to us chippers?

Word makes it’s way through the industry every once and a while that certain government agencies revive discussions on how to get a better handle on gaming and the currency involved.

great inroads have been established to prevent the laundering of cash, some of which were marketed as convenience.

I remember years ago listening how happy the owners and bosses were that the TITO was perfected and approved, they couldn’t wait for it’s roll out. No more coin counting and no more ordering those dreadful tokens! The age of the white gloved old ladies with their blackened gloves (and blue hair and too much perfume). Would come to an end.
I was present when a discussion to analyze how much more they would make on the tickets that got taken home, destroyed or expired would be compared to the tokens given that now they would take home pennies, dimes, nickels etc. and not just dollar tokens.

Now it seems the worry is that governmental agencies will push for electronic transfers and all electronic wagers on machines and table games and use the “virus” as reason, public

I for one wouldn’t like having to do this! FD7DC427-7FBE-46AC-9F4F-E1855C9A6105.png

or sit here....

What’s your thoughts on playing in a chipless casino??
(Not why it will or won’t happen)

It’s on the drawing board at Cesars I know that 100% for a fact. I’ve seen the machines which for now is for marketing and employees eyes only. They want chips gone, and cash on the the tables gone. Think pre paid credits on a card at blackjack.

If I can walk in there with cash and cash out with cash, I don't know why I should care what happens in the middle.
I like to maintain as much anonymity, as possible, but since I'm mostly a tournament player and those fuckers all require players card's and driver's licenses for tournaments, that's out the window.

This is clearly going to be the norm sooner or later imo. The casino saves money by not having to buy chips and they get to claim their facility is more sanitary than the one down the street using cash and clay chips.

It’s probably a big selling point to the large amount of senior citizen casino patrons who are being extra cautious because of covid.

Only good news is that all those chips the casinos are going to get rid of should end up here.

Cards and those kinds of personal interaction hopefully won’t go away, just how we can wager. They have to offer something an online game can’t or doesn’t. Personal poker servers run from home are probably here to stay and have no chips or cards.

If this was to happen whats the point of a physical casino even existing? They have all of these virtual machines and rooms online, I dont see a difference at that point. In fact the casino could save even more money by not having a physical location, it will just make it one step closer to that happening if chips get removed

Problem is now that they know how to pull off a pandemic they know what they can get away with. People now think it’s perfectly normal one even better when a business post” NO CASH TAKEN HERE”. Debit card buy in and credit to your account on cash in. Now all that’s in the middle is at both ends too!

The social interaction between people in person will be the only difference between virtual from home and They’ll play on that. Casinos will lobby laws that it cannot be “online”. Must be done in the casino. They’ll say internet from home causes more severe addiction (which they’ve already proven. That pushes the internet guy out. Besides, they want you to stay in the resort. Most strip (Vegas) casinos are down to around 60/40 + - service and goods to gaming and the 40 is gaming. A buffet at Caesars is $70. And a captain and coke $16.50 if no play.

YES! And then the satan worshippers use the profits to fund their pedophile pizza parties!

While I hope it’s not in our near future, unfortunately the tide is turning that way. I remember when those huge video blackjack machines showed up, then the bubble craps “tables” now baccarat. The dealers were pissed! Not only jobs but the tips! No one tips the video dealer! But they’ll prolly figure out how to get guests to tip the machines!!

For sure I know it wont work I agree, GPI will lobby against it and many people will stop going since they will think its rigged, thats the biggest reason it hasnt happened already but I didnt mention this because I thought we were leaving the "why it will or won't happen" from your original post out of the discussions lol

Ok. Sidenote: GPI Is an 85 Million a year company with 700 employees. Not sure a company that size could lobby a determined government armed now with “public health”. Especially if the casinos go along. The customers will say, “well we won’t come then” but in the end will be back in short order when they don’t budge. They’re already using COVID to remove smoking. COVID-19 it’s like the governments bottle of fix-it-all!! As a reference MGM did 19 Billion in 2019, makes GPI look like peanuts. Although I’d take 85 million peanuts any day.

Even besides that, gambler's are widely superstitious by nature.. having all virtual machines will be a huge step in the wrong direction for casinos, the "machines are rigged against me" cheating allegations will be through the roof, especially cause these machines will be much quicker then live dealers meaning they will feel the effects of losing a lot quicker (same as how people swear online poker sites are rigged cause they get bad beats "more often"). More headache then its probably worth and I'm sure they thought of this already lol

All the casinos in the NYC area have virtual machines and they seem to be doing fine. They probably don’t attract the super high rollers but all of the old casino regs just play slots all day long anyway so virtual blackjack/roulette is not a huge stretch.

theyll just make it more tactically pleasurable for the player. They can slow the speed of a dealer like a light switch. Lol. Let you pick the speed. Give you all kinds of “control” that make you feel better. While I fully get what you’re saying, they don’t care about our superstition. The masses will believe it’s not rigged. They’ll (casinos) make the fewest concessions for the poker rooms as they make the least amount of profit to cost in every casino. They keep it because it brings guests and maybe they’ll eat drink and drop a slot or table game or two. I’m sure there’s folks here that have worked in the casino industry who can attest most casinos hate the poker room when it comes to revenue per square foot.

Yea theres a casino about 15 minutes from my house thats completely virtual, checked it out once and there was still a good amount of people there but definitely not as much as the other casinos that have cards and chips still

This will be pretty sad if this is the way casinos go, I know I probably would never go again, theres just a different type of allure with phyical cards and chips.. maybe its just because we are chip enthusiasts but everything you're saying checks out and it will definitely ruin the experience for me..

Interesting. Just curious. Did they do virtual table games with a dealer? In some places in Wisconsin they have regular table games (cards) with dealers and cards (only the dealer touches) and ticket in out with your “chips” on a screen. Each seat has a screen. No chips no money handled. Your cash or ticket goes in like a slot.

There was no human dealer but a virtual video of a human girl on the screens they used (this was for blackjack) lol, but so in your scenario, theres still cards and human dealers but no chips? Everything else is virutal?

I don’t see it any too soon, not sure about everyone here, i’m 55 and I’m betting (haha) I’ll see the day it happens wide scale.

The BJ and prop games (three card poker and those) have dealers that deal cards then there’s a screen at each seat and you do all your betting on the screen, the rest normal. The 2 biggest problems they’ll have is craps and baccarat. Craps due to the logistics of the game and baccarat as it’s the biggest money maker even though technically it’s the least odds for the house and it has mostly Asian players and they’re super super superstitious. Casino baccarat is a fairly growing game in the casinos.

I think an all Digital casino would never succeed. All the older and those retired people with the big money don't like to gamble digitally on table games. I know my Mom would never do it. I played in an all electronic 8 person poker table on a cruise ship and hated it. I mean I play online from my home, but when I go to a casino I would never like it. I hate playing Roulette and BJ digitally at casinos too. Nothing is better than live cards and a real dealer for me. The one thing about going digital that may benefit Casinos are when people are buying in for physical chips with real cash a lot of people are more cognizant about how much money they are playing with and losing, and with a cashless system people wouldn't be as much aware. An example on the cruise ship they try to discourage buying in of chips with cash. They want you to charge it to the room that way you are more free with your money and more apt to rebuy. Before you realize it you are in for Thousands of dollars. I rebuffed that idea of charging it to the room and they let me buy in for $500 in cash to play Blackjack.

Once the majority of our Generation is gone (the 30+ years and older) then these types of casino may succeed as the kids these days never have cash on them and everything is paid electronically.

You state the exact reason they (casinos) will comply 1. They want more so they want you more apt to rebuy. 2. They don’t care about the 70 and overs anymore, kids are the money. And 3. If the electronic poker table is all there is you’ll play. Then play more. Then before you know it they’ve convinced you that you like it better. They’re good at that.

Do they have Poker like Hold ‘em that we play.

They already have chip-less craps figured out.
That table is soooo cool. It uses real dice a 1 dealer though. So better than the bubble. I was at a demo last December for that unit. It’s so cool you want to do it. Real dice. Better than that stupid bubble machine. The rest automation and one dealer instead of 4. They’re working on the cost to benefit it’s pretty pricey and all the new companies want leases and percentages now a days.
