Cash Is Out! (1 Viewer)

blessed be the dealers in the limit games over the next three months as they are forced to reckon with the players who are metabolically opposed to change.

I definitely prefer chips over cash at the table. I guess that is no great revelation on this forum. ;)

So glad this is happening as it is sometimes very hard to see how many bills a player can have and it's annoying to always have to ask for a count of them. Much prefer chips that I can count myself.

I've played bar games that allow cash at the table... Um, no! I banked this game once (provided nice Paulson's for chips), and I refused to let cash play while I was running the game. For a variety of reasons. 1- nice chips to play with, why u need cash 2- cash at table, harder to count 3- photo of me playing poker with chips (who cares), photo of me with cash on the table, (= evidence of illegal activity).

I'm fine with "cash plays" in the sense that cash on the table is part of the stack and is in the next hand, whether or not it's converted to chips... but that's only acceptable temporarily, while waiting for it to be converted for chips.

This allows for buy-ins when it's convenient without slowing down the game because someone wants to rebuy.

i agree with your sentiment, but this wont have any effect on the limit games except for the 2 or 3 guys that put a wad of cash on the table in the 40 when they get down to just a couple stacks in play.

this is the only valid argument for "cash plays" to be acceptable. it kills me that guys i play with every week always have 10k in their pocket and always cash out at the end of the night and always buy back in one buyin at a time, and they always slow the game to a halt to rebuy after going bust.

i generally have about 5-8 buyins in chips in my pocket and sell them at the table just to keep games going. there's only 1 casino that i dont do that at... the cage is too leery about large transactions and started accusing me of laundering and structuring (obviously i wouldnt do either one)

Interesting that nobody (including the article) has mentioned the increased exposure to theft that a casino cash-plays policy invites. Steal/rob chips, good luck with that one. Steal/rob cash, different story. Just imagine if in addition to the cranberries, the biker bandit also made off with multiple 5K bundles of cash....

I think cash is pretty easy to take down if going to the bathroom or someone busts into the poker room with a helmet on. Stacks of cranberries, little harder.

Cash is pretty secure for the player - some guys will hit dinner and scoop their cash when they to and announce like "fourteen hundred" but it's open to angle shooting when they sit back down with 2k
