We keep the home games small otherwise we just go to the casino, we usually play a lot of different games, me and one other guy are the only ones that play online and in casinos everyone else just plays once in a while and they really enjoy having a lot of chips, makes it fun for them

This is reasonable. For a $50 buy-in, everybody gets 20x $0.25, 20x $1, and 5x $5. Rebuys are done with with 10x $5 or what-have-you, or use up the remaining fracs and dollars if you want as many chips on the table as possible (encourages action). As long as your bank needs do not exceed $1250, then you're good to go.

PM me if you're interested in a set with this exact breakdown.
What would you suggest for 600 or 700 chips? .25 to $20

100 25¢
200 $1
200 $5
80 $20
20 $100

that’s the breakdown I’m doing for my customs and it’ll cover what I need for everything I’m willing to play at home. But we play 6 max, and we play small.

my current set is:
160 25¢
200 $1
100 $5
12 $20 (plaques).
And it’s more than enough for my 25¢/25¢ or 25¢/50¢ games.

My 'standard' cash set (25c/50c stakes):

100 x 25c
200 x $1
200 x $5
100 x $20
---------------
600 chips

For 5c/10c stakes, I add a rack of nickels plus another rack of quarters. (800 chips total)

For 1/2 stakes, I add another rack of $1s plus one or two more racks of $5s. (1100 chips total)

$100 bills can always play if needed for higher stakes, or you can add 20-100 x $100 chips or plaques. (1200 chips total, covering 5c/10c to $1/$2)

The thing i can't come to grips with is the frac situation, why only 100 .25 chips? Seems like you would want enough to rebuy? With only 100 how do you do your starting stack for a $50 buying? Maybe I'm starting realize i like more chips in front me when starting.... I dont know.
100 fracs should be the bare minimum for 0.25/0.25 and 0.25/0.50 because it's "good enough." No one should need more than 200. There are varying opinions about what should be the perfect amount between 100 and 200.

My opinion
0.25/0.25:
160 quarters
0.25/0.50: 140 quarters
0.50/1: 80 quarters

Even starting stacks is a tournament concept; you don't need even starting stacks for cash game. Give the first person to buy in all the fracs and let that player do the work of distributing fracs to other players.

How would you suggest a cash set breakdown be?

I'm no pro at this and I struggle with it all the time but I'll give my two cents. I'm always pulling out my chip calculator, trying to figure out the best starting stacks and probably over analyzing it. Do I want to save money on chips and have just enough or spend the money go get the starting stacks that my group likes to have and not worry about making change all the time. Those are the questions I always find myself asking.

I think the trouble in trying to figure this out, is all the blinds that you might be playing, .25/.25 up to 1/2. Why buy a bunch of .25 chips when they won't be used in a $1/$1 game. Why buy a bunch of $20 chips when you don't need that many, if any, for a .25/.25 game? You say you'll mostly be playing .25/.25 or .25/.50 and for that I really like your idea of...
So what would everyone say about this breakdown for 600 chips

.25- 200
$1- 200
$5- 200
I would start my players out with...
20 x .25
20 x $1
5 x $5
That still gives you enough for 15 rebuys at $50.
My group and I like more chips in front of us as well.
i like more chips in front me when starting

Now I've never played $1/$1 or $1/$2 but I'll take a stab at it. For your $1/$2 game, if you want to stick with a minimum of 100BB for your buy-in I'm thinking you'd do something like this...
20 x $1
16 x $5
5 x $20
I know you said up to $100 buy-in but if you're playing those stakes do you really only want 50BB's to start?
With a breakdown of
$1 x 200
$5 x 200
$20x 100
That would give you exactly 16 buy-in/re-buys of $200
I honestly don't know what's best here, more $5's, $20's or both. Another rack of $5's is only 2.5 rebuys at a $200 buyin. I guess at this point you have to take a look at your game and decide how many re-buys there will be, what you're buy in is really going to be and how many chips do you really want to start with.

So I say to cover all your games this would work
.25 x 200
$1 x 200
$5 x 200
$20 x 100
More $5's and/or $20's for the bigger game.

I'll stop rambling now, hope some of it helps.

Thanks for the input! I've been inputting on the chip calculator and I'm leaning towards the 700 chip set with a 200/200/200/100 breakdown.
