Here's a small set of Casablanca Casino Aruba chips.

Casablanca_Collection_01.jpg

All are uncirc'd except the hundos, which I hope to replace someday with an uncirc'd rack.

Another great set Ski! I've always liked those grey hundo's and yellow 500's :). Oh and... get some splashed pot in the splashed pot thread ;) :) hehe

He has our Terrible's $5k chips! :(

Ahhhh, well... if you're talking about re-labeling the slightly used grey hundos, I guess that's OK, if not optimal. However, be aware that relabeling the mint uncirc'd yellow/blue $500 chips would reserve for you a *very* special place in poker chip hell!:eek:

LOL @ chip hell. It was the grey hundros.

The inlay is the wrong size, I thought about it :)

I know but it was the only grey Paulson chip I've seen that you could get in qty. (a few months ago) Most high denom chips are different that the lower denoms anyway, so my OCD would of been OK. :)

I have a couple of ideas for you. PM coming shortly

If you found more of the grey UB $100's like I have you'd be set because they are the RHC mold.

Got it! Thx.

Pic?

Remember I sent you two of them with Terrible's Bounty labels on them. I had 2 racks of them (less the 2 you have lol). They are grey with mint and pink edgespots.

grey UB = ??? Ultimate Bet?

Ski

Yep those are the ones. I got 200 black Ultimate Bet and 200 Grey Ultimate Bet

That's grey!? I better get my eyes checked. LOL

I did pick up a rack of those a while ago. I'd probably call them charcoal though.

LOL....

I just realized that the Garden City $500 chips would of make perfect Terrible's $5k chips!

Why..most high value chips have this mold and are 43mm. $500 Vineyard, $1k GV, $1k PNYs. I suffer from OCD and I would be OK with it. It's normal. ;)

Having a different mold would bug me lol

+1 to Tommy's comment. None of the 43 mm Paulson chips have an identical/matching mold to their standard 39 mm SCV, LCV, or RHC molds.

That said, I've heard that serious efforts are now underway to prepare Tommy's special little place in poker chip hell in anticipation of him re-labeling something nice like these relatively rare 43 mm Garden City $500 chips!

Tommy, you might be able to save your soul if you at least get something more common, like the 43 mm Par-A-Dice chips, to re-label!

Seriously, wouldn't you guys prefer a grey RHC chip for this obsessive Terrible's re-labeling? The charcoal grey Ultimate Bet chips in Jack's photo would seem to be a great fit.

That dark grey UB chip color is too close to the Terrible's $100 IMO. Must be grey so none of the Par-A-Dice chips would work.

Laugh all you want, but you're already half way there... the evil is in your heart! :D Don't worry though. I can take care of the forum while you're gone for eternity.

Really? Even with that bright salmon pink edge spot? Wow... I'd think it a small price to pay to save my soul. Another alternative would be to bleach the color out of the orange Par-A-Dice $1k, or even dye it.

Can I borrow your ultrasonic machine? LOL just kidding! :D

Sorry to bring such an old thread back to life, but on those grey $100's, there appears to be different labels, one with purple-ish outlines and one with black outlines. Are they different labels or just different sides?

Yes, there are at least two slightly different versions of these chips. As you noticed, the inlays on some have a logo that is more magenta than red. You can't see it too well in my photo, but the red edge spots are a little different in color, too.

In the time since that photo was taken, I've replaced the used grey hundos (with red & white spots and textured inlays) with the proper mint "other grey Casa hundos" with blue & yellow spots and smooth inlays that match the other chips in the photo.

The "old" grey hundos are now part of another Casablanca set, all textured inlays and slightly used, including those bubble gum pink $5s, bright green $25s, and medium dark purple $500s.

I should probably take new family photos!

yes please :)

Agreed. There are so many varieties I was wondering which chips get grouped together...I hope I have the right reds for my greens. Otherwise that means <sigh> more greens to match and more reds...and now seeing those 2K plaques...ugg.

I'll make it a point to do that after I get the poker table cleaned off again, as it's currently serving as a chip drying and chip sorting table! Also, I now have some of the white $2 chips that need to be added to the mint set (LCV with 1" smooth inlays).

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm not sure I've seen a casino that made so many different chips! Just go with what you like, though! If you want to be picky and have chip features (other than color) that match, then note that there are at least three things by which you might want to sort/choose:

1) Some of the Casas are on the LCV mold, and some are SCV. And if you're going to be picky, some are LCV on one side, and SCV on the other (no kidding). In the photo of my original post, all the chips except the hundos are LCV.

2) Some Casas have 1" inlays, and some have 7/8" inlays. In the photo of my original post, all the chips except the hundos have 1" inlays.

3) All the 1" Casa inlays I've seen are smooth. Within the 7/8" inlays, many are textured (like all the chips in my used SCV set), but some are smooth (like those nice brown mint LCV hundos pictured in MeridianFC's recent post about Casablanca plaques).

Of course, you've probably also seen the 43 mm orange IHC Casa $1000, which has a 7/8" smooth inlay like the brown LCV hundos.

Other members here have some Casablanca sets that put mine to shame! In particular, go look for some photos of Jackstraw's ocean of Casablancas - it's crazy! He even has racks of those hot yellow $1s.

Minor update... I just grabbed my Paulson color samples, and my Casablanca set of used SCVs with 7/8" textured inlays (no photo yet) includes the following:

"Hot Pink" $5s (they look like bubble gum!)
"Day Green" $25s (a deeply saturated bright color.)
"Gray" hundos (in the photo of the original post.)
"Purple" $500s (I don't have any, but I think the other $500 that's a light purple is Paulson color "Orchid")

Luckily I can get past the SCV/LCV issue but the inlay size and texture will be noticeable for me. Exactly what I was a afraid of, I have the red 1" and the green 7/8". Oh well, I like both of them so maybe I can trick myself into thinking it's the best of both worlds. Now I just have to decide which option to choose for the hundo's.

Would the casino have mixed inlay sizes? Seems odd.

I've never seen a breakdown of the various Casa chips regarding how they were used or grouped together. But yes, casinos mix inlay sizes all the time -- they even mix molds, and sometimes even chip manufacturers and different materials. I've even seen them put clays, ceramics, and plastics all in play together in the same game. /shudder/

These look great. Kind of wish I had held onto some of mine.
