I’ve been working on a table build (details here: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/shahnuli’s-raised-rail-table-build.52163/) and want to put carrying handles on the sub base layer so that it’s easy to carry for 2 people.
I just got these from amazon:

Question I have is this for all of you much more experienced than me: are 4x wood screws going to be strong enough? Or do I need to use tnuts or wood inserts to make these a viable option for carrying?

Thanks!

I have installed these exact same handles (no recess required) with zero issues and several tables. Includes one very heavy table that uses Gorilla legs.
