Can anybody confirm what date these Mirage $1s were issued?

I was kinda shocked to feel a textured inlay on these. Chipguide says 2009. I didn’t realize they were making textured inlay Paulsons that late.

I just got a pair of them in that amazing @TheJestyr giveaway. There are for sure original textured Paulson inlays on these two. But who knows if there are different versions.

Although, now that I think about it, texture is a feature of the mold, right? So maybe they switched out all the textured THC and RHC molds sooner than some of the house molds.

Yep - I have the two racks from @doublebooyah85. I overlabeled them right away with Gear labels using the older Mirage logo. But I just peeled back one of the stickers and lo-and-behold, yes, the original inlay is textured (on that chip anyway).

My guess would be the same reason that we suspect they stopped doing textured inlays - they weren’t compatible with the security features they’d started marketing and building into chips (especially higher denoms.)

Nice visual effect on those $100 and $5000 chips, with oversize inlays to mimic the tree trunk inlay images turning into clay. Very unique and pretty cool.

And alternately, just really poor color and/or design execution on the $500 and $1000 chip inlays..... most likely the fault of the internal GPI designer.
