Huge thanks to @jbutler for selling me this set which has always been one of my favs, and I've borrowed liberally (stolen) his excellent writeup on their history. I've always thought the inlay was hilarious and appropriate for poker, and loved the hotstamp $1's @ssanel54 had made.

Originally created and used as part of an illegal tournament series called the Cajun Cup which was held in Louisiana from 1986 through 1989. It was shut down in 1989 by the state police, but the chips were not confiscated.

Phil Hellmuth won the final event played under the Cajun Cup name.

The only cash denominations made for the Cajun Cup were $1s, $5s, and $25s. These $1s were originally commissioned by @ssanel (back when Paulson was doing stamping for consumers through @Apache) since the original $1s are extremely rare in quantity. My understanding is that Scott has 250 original $1s and the rest are still with the original source (not a PCFer or CTer) who has been extremely reluctant to part with them.

I thought it'd be great to add a $100 chip and eventually settled on some Grand Casino Hinckley canceled chips available from @Apache. I sent those along with some $500 Casablancas to @Gear who worked his magic with inlay replacement. Very happy with the result!

1482 chips
Breakdown:
400 - $1 (custom Cajun Cup hotstamps stamped by Paulson on the suits mold)
820 - $5
220 - $25
32 - $100 Grand Casino Hinckley (@Gear inlay replacement)
10 - $500 Casablanca (@Gear inlay replacement)

Congrats Chris! Looks like Sarge has a new tenant. Didn't know the history, thanks for sharing.

Just saw these in the hot stamp thread and had to seek them out. I love these chips.
Wow.

Wow.

Thank you for the compliment and the bump! Love these. Getting them in play again tonite. Hopefully all 8 racks of $5s again. (y)

I mean the spots are simply awesome, but there's something about that inlay that makes it one of the coolest I've ever seen.

Many thanks to @ssanel54 for the awesome Cajun Cup db and spare $5 chip. He's a fine, upstanding young man. (y)

Bumping this, because I’ve always loved these chips and after a lot of hunting I just picked up 800 $5s and 300 $25s. I noticed a slight variation in the inlays, looks like there were two different production batches, one with a darker metallic cup that has UV Paulson security marks, and one with a lighter gold cup and no marks, mine are split maybe 2:1 with security marks. I’m still surprised there were no $100s for this set, guessing they probably played like $2/5 cash?
